I've had two of these over the last 6 years
I'm online shopping for a new briefcase/bag and stopped at this product first because it has worked for me for more than half a decade. I'm a FREQUENT traveler and the reason I've had two is because they look like hell after 3 years. I need to present! Then again, if I wore the same pair of boots for that many days/miles I'd be barefoot. But kidding aside, these have served me incredibly well. I believe in buying top quality when traveling because your time and comfort are so precious - and having a bag fail 4000 miles away from home is debilitating. Some things to think about before you buy...If you're traveling with a 17" laptop, depending on the form of it (I used to have a 17" Asus gaming computer. Yah...I know) - it may not fit easily in the laptop compartment. 15" and under slips right in and out. No problems. This thing when fully loaded and the wheel set on is HEAVY. That said, I almost never use it without the wheels. Some have mentioned difficulty fitting it on airplanes. Forget about under your seat. But it's fine. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to detach the wheels to go into the overhead compartment with this bag on more than 250 flights. Just don't let this thing hit you in the head when you take it out of the overhead!Zippers are rock solid. Zero problems in 6 years.Late in bag life, the clip system can become a bit unreliable. The bag will try to escape the clips and you'll have to put them back on. If this bag fails on you, it will come because of the clip system.I've found that the wheels and the handle have held up well - including miles and miles walking across cobblestone streets. The only ask I'd have was that the handle would come up higher because I am tall...but that happens with even TUMI bags. If you're over 6-4 (I'm not), check this.I pack a ton of 'electronics' stuff in the 2nd to last pocket and papers in the last one. I have never packed clothes in it because they will wrinkle. The front pockets are 'pretty good'. I find myself rooting around too much but that might because I've just tossed stuff in when in a hurry. The extra small briefcase is nice, because you can gift it to someone and they will think you love them. I don't use it.Overall...amazing piece of work and a good value. Now...what WILL I buy today?

Ok case. Did not fit my oversize laptop.
The build quality of the case is ok. I do not know how it will hold up because I returned it. I really like the detachable wheels/handle assembly. That is what attracted me to the case in the first place...well, that and the ability to fit a 17" laptop. The front compartment is nice and roomy. The middle compartment is described as the document compartment, but that is where the protective foam resides. I would not put electronics in the rear compartment because there is little protection. Also, the case does not hold as much as you would expect for a case this large and heavy. I think that it is partly due to an inefficient design, and partly because it is made of leather (I expect leather cases to be heavy) and it does have nice cushion in the center compartment. On a positive note, the detachable laptop briefcase is great for documents or a 15" laptop. I would feel very secure if I had a 15" laptop in the detachable briefcase and stored in the center compartment. The laptop compartment (they call it the document compartment) cannot fit a 17" laptop unless you take out the protective foam ring. Even then, it will be very tight because the corners are so rounded. My laptop, a Dell M6600, did not fit because it is thick and has a 17.3" screen, though the dimensions are at the outer limit of the specs cited in the description. Also, the M6600 has square corners.I think this case is ideal for someone who travels often with a 15" laptop, and needs this case to do double-duty as a roller and as an impressive looking briefcase (without the wheel/handle assembly). The briefcase insert makes for a great looking and functional laptop sleeve for a 15" laptop. It has room for an AC adapter and several accessories as well as a couple pads of paper. If you are looking for a true 17" laptop case, I think you should look elsewhere.

Great Bag
I have found this bag to be a great one so far. It has plenty of space and is well made. The leather is soft and appears to be of good quality so it should last a long time. The roller wheels are very smooth and even when fully loaded for a trip, it rolls with ease. It also does not want to tip over when loaded up. The handle is smooth in operation as are the zippers. I have a 17" MacBook Pro and it fits in the included laptop portfolio and that fits into the bag. I have used this for two trips. It will fit in the overheads of larger planes but because of the thickness it will not fit on smaller planes. The only issues I think about on this bag are the handle has the usual extend type dual rail system, these can have a tendency to loosen up over time. I hope this does not happen as it is very nice now but experience says it will. The second issue is the attachment system for the roller cart to laptop bag, there are 4 snapping plastic clips. I worry that these will break or crack with age. Hopefully they will be easily replaced but if not then the cart and bag loose value very quickly. Might want to get some of those now just in case.Update January 8th 2013: the bag is still holding up but the cart is not doing very well. The wheels that roll smoothly are very poorly made and I have two replacements sets so far. While the current ones work well it is only a matter of time before it just pops off and the bearings roll all over the floor. McKlein charges $30 for a replacement set. The handle is actually doing pretty well but it does show some stiffness once in a while extending or collapsing but this is not unexpected from a telescoping handle. One of the plastic tabs that hold the bag to the cart broke or fell off without me noticing. I did not replace it but instead found a workaround with a metal clip.

Love this laptop bag
Love this laptop bag. Great design plenty of extra compartments. Excellent craftsmanship. There is only one issue I have with it. My 17" laptop fits, but not in the padded area.,
