Best of Three
Ok, so Christmas is over and because of that I can now say I have three dash cams. So, with this review, I’m going to compare this particular product to the others, but only on a small scale ...So firstly, out of the three I prefer this one and here’s why …1) It’s the least conspicuous. All others are mounted to the windshield or dash and although I could probably mount one of them behind the mirror to hide it a little more, it still wouldn’t be as inconspicuous. Needless to say, I don’t necessarily like leaving electronics in the car but this is the one electronic piece that I don’t mind leaving if I have to. And on top of that, a lot of times I’ll take it in with me to charge so that I can go completely cord free (where it will last around 1-2 hours), which hopefully make it even less conspicuous when I’m out and about. It’s also the least conspicuous when it comes to other drivers, not only because there’s nothing extra attached to your windshield, but also because it reverts automatically to a setting where it’s recording but not displaying the video (my other camera does not do that, nor have I been able to find a setting for it).2) It has two cameras that you can rotate independently of one another. They both rotate 180 degrees, one rotating 180 degrees to the left and the other 180 degrees to the right so that you can capture video in whichever direction you need to. The only downside is that the left camera is obstructed by the mirror’s control panel, so there’s that small window that you’re not able to get on the left, but at the same time, every other direction is accessible (with the exception of up/down). I do want to say that the other dual camera I have has cameras on each end of the device, eliminating this particular problem, but I can’t get front panorama shots with it. With that one, it has a huge middle gap that’s missing if both cameras are facing the front whereas this one allows the images to run side by side to fit exactly. Other dual cameras I’ve noticed online are even more limited with their range.3) It’s easier to unmount than my other dash cam. This may be a bigger product, but it’s a lot easier to remove when I want to take it inside than my other dash cam. The other one I either have to un-suction or really work the mount to free it (probably because they want a tight connection so it’s not wobbly when you’re driving down the road). This one’s easier … I’ve lost a couple of rubber feet along the way but I’m okay with that.Outside of that, what concerned me about this product initially is that I wouldn’t be able to see well enough in the mirror and that hasn’t been the case at all. Once you take the film off, the mirror works just like any other mirror. The video is set to come on automatically when you turn on your car and disappear within about 30 seconds after so that you are not distracted by it. If needed, you can turn the video back on by pressing the on/off button (where it will fade again in about 30 seconds). All the while, it is constantly recording in the background. As far as quality, I’m not one for video quality on a dash cam. As long as you can see what has happened, that’s all I need. (That’s not to say this is not good quality, it’s to say I don’t know how to distinguish good quality from bad when it comes to video resolution unless it’s obviously bad, which isn’t the case with this product.) Some people will say that they want their dash cam to be able to clearly see license plates, and that’s fine, but I still think you should have your audio on and call out the license plate number on the video (and possibly other details) while your video is being recorded (almost all dash cams have audio, including this one). You never know how your video quality is going to come out, whether you’re using an expensive product or not. I do have what seems to be a higher quality dash cam that was given to me for Christmas, but I still prefer this one for all the reasons above (plus the new one is a single-camera model only). The last thing I want to mention about this camera is the quality of night-time shots. It’s definitely comparable to my other (I’m not really sure about the newest one). None of them are exceptional, but the more light there is on the road (headlights, streetlights, whatever), the better the quality. I hope to add some videos soon so that you can see for yourself. I’ll probably also update this review to add on to it as time moves on.

Foscam Digital Technologies LLC wrongfully marketed this SD card as an accessory for WickedHD car camera
The vendor (Foscam Digital technologies LLC) marketed this SanDisk Ultra 32GB microSDHC UHS-I card as an accessory for the WickedHD WCD-5801 Dual Lens Rear View Mirror vehicle camera. I think this is wrong and probably deceitful.I bought two of these, but one SD card crashed within two months and the second SD card crashed about three weeks later. The error message hat came up after the crash is shown in the attached picture.I contacted Amazon Customer Service. They asked me to contact SanDisk because the SD card has 10 years warranty. However, when I contacted SanDisk, they confirmed that the warranty has been voided because the card was used for the wrong application. It was not designed for continuous video recording which is what the WickedHD WCD-5801 Dual Lens Camera does. I lost my money and had to purchase the appropriate SanDisk high endurance SD card designed for continuous video recording. So the problem was not with the SanDisk SD card but the Amazon vendor (Foscam Digital Technologies LLC) who marketed it as an accessory for the wrong device.

Overall this is a good product. However
Overall this is a good product. However, a few things about this dashcam made me want to return the unit. First, the speaker seems to be broken or maybe just the way it is. When the unit turns on and off, the tune was not pleasant, sounded hoarse. Second, each single lens appears to give a much narrower angle of view than the 120 degrees described. When I chose single lens option to capture higher resolution picture, the field is very narrow and reminds me of tunnel vision. I tried the Amacam and even the WickedHD G1W (what I'm keeping after purchasing through eBay from the same seller) and both have much wider view and both provide 120 degrees of view. The ability to record 2 opposite sides of the car is great. However I do find myself adjusting both lenses in such a way that it provides a near completely seamless recording of the front of the car and got a much wider field of view than the 120 degree models. that brings me to the last thing I don't like about this unit. As at least one other person has pointed out, the left sided lens typically catches the black rubber covering of the lower right claw which grabs on the rear view mirror which is visible on the upper left hand corner of the recorded video. I'm sure because the lens sees a dark object within it's field of view, the left side of the recorded video almost always has the washed out, over exposed look to it reducing it's ability to capture objects clearly. If WickedHD's manufacturer can make sure each lens provides a wider field of view and relocate the clamps so it does not get into and occupy part of the screen then I would consider acquiring this piece back again.
