Carl Wilson — Here and Now is a highly personal documentary film about the professional and private life of Carl Wilson, the man who had “the voice of an angel,” as well as being the lead guitarist and founding member of The Beach Boys. Contains three hours of viewing on two discs. Family members interviewed are Brian Wilson, Jonah Wilson, Justyn Wilson, Annie Wilson Karges, Marilyn Wilson Rutherford, Carole Wilson Bloom and more. Includes never-before-seen family photos, rare home movies and vintage concert footage. Features musical segments by Carl Wilson and the complete versions of Michael Angeloff's “Here and Now Is Forever” and “Life's So Strange” that were Carl's last background vocal performances in the recording studio.

MY OPINION ON "HERE AND NOW"
This movie about the life and work of Carl Wilson is indeed a wonderful creation of Billy Hinsche and a real treat to any true fan of the Beach Boys, especially of Carl.Having always been an ardent fan of the Beach Boys I need not point out I guess that this review of the life and musical activity of one of the most talented singers I ever knew on this planet fully meets my expectations.I have watched the movie thrice already since I received it and each time I was moved by the statements not only of the relatives but also of the closest friends of Carl. There are so many things in this documentary I did not know so far despite being a fan of his for so many years, and this of course makes the possession of the film all the more precious to me.The thing that struck me at once when seeing the sons of Carl appear on the screen by the way was how very much they resemble their dad,It is indeed no exaggeration to claim that Carl is kept alive in his children since they are his spitting image.A delight to watch them truly. My thanks to you, dear Billy, for making us,true fans of Carl Wilson, this lovely present thus allowing us to make a thorough acquaintance with this exceptional human being who doubtless possessed 'the voice and heart of an angel' and who made this world of ours a better place to live in by his mere presence, as stated so appositely on his marker in Westwood Memorial Park.William Storm

True for the real fans, but should not be missed by anyone!
To the other negative reviewer: You're obviously not a strong Beach Boys fan let alone Carl, there are interviews and enlightenment that can't be found anywhere else. This is like getting introduced to the family and nearly everyone that worked with them. True i would have liked to had a little more of a soundtrack relating to the music, but with a documentary of this magnitude would have very likely proven problematic. This is truly a labor of love, and outside of marginal video quality which i will admit i was extremely disappointed with, is a journey through Carl's life that you shouldn't miss if you loved him like so many of us. It would be nice if the video and audio quality could be cleaned up, and is frankly what has kept me from looking into purchasing the new "Home Movies" DVD. In this day of. HD, Blu Ray, and Retina, it's hard to accept video quality like this.

A loving tribute to a very decent guy
This is 2-disc DVD consisting primarily of interviews with Carl Wilson's family and friends and some home movies/photographs of him. It is more of a Valentine's card to Carl, or a tribute book, however, than a documentary. Having watched most of it, I have learned he was probably the nicest, most considerate guy in show business with a strong sense of family and obligation. He was also a consummate professional whose respect was well-worth earning. But I still don't know Carl Wilson. How he felt, what he thought. What it was like for him to have to hold the band together after his two older brothers went to pieces. There are no interviews with him personally. So that was disappointing. It also would have been interesting to see what Carl Wilson's reputation was outside of his inner circle, for example, what guitarists such as Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton think of his guitar-playing. But given the paucity of information about Carl Wilson out there, I am glad that someone saw fit to make a movie about him.

THANK YOU, BILLY!
What a beautiful labor of love! Carl Wilson was such a special, unique talent and person. Billy Hinsche's camera captures the memories of so many people who loved and knew Carl and gives those of us who did not have the good fortune to know Carl some great insight into his personality, talent, relationships, etc. I had a GREAT time watching this. Thank you, Billy!

Carl Wilson-Here and Now
Not at all what I thought. Needed much more of Carl instead of everybody just talking about him. I thought it was a waste of money. Probably never watch it again.
