Not to code and not standard fitting.
What a mess this thing created in the project! Admittedly, the sink is builder grade from the mid 90’s, so not top of the line, but neither is the drain (not most expensive or highest rated). So, here goes... 1. the drain body did not fit down into the sink divet; 2. The drain tailpiece was not long enough; 3. Cannot purchase a 1.25 drain tailpiece at local stores, code is now 1.5 inches.1. The drain body fit in the hole but did not rest in the “dimple” or divet at the bottom of the sink. This is NOT what caused the tailpiece to be too short since it couldn’t have made more than .25” difference.2. Apparently, drain tailpieces come in three sizes, 4”, 6”, and 12”. 6” is the most common in the local stores. The tailpiece on this drain was 5”. Ah -ha moment, that’s why most drains in the store come with a 12” tailpiece....then it works for everyone (when cut down and this is usually not hard to do).3. So, we thought, well for a couple bucks we can just get a pvc tailpiece. Nope. The stores do not sell 1.25” tailpieces. Standard is now 1.5”. Michigan plumbing code P2703.1. Minimum size—Fixture tailpieces shall not be less than 1 ½ inches (38mm) in diameter for sinks....So, the drain was teturned. Measure the length of your current tailpiece before purchasing this.4.

Follow Below Instructions to Avoid Leaks
I read many of the reviews and spent about 4 hours trying to use more plumbers putty here and there but finally had to nuke it with Silicone. Used plumbers putty on the top part of the sink because it has a larger than normal opening. However, leaked like a submarine with a screen door from the rubber washer below the sink. Open up the picture and use with the below text:USE CLEAR SILICONE!!! (do not used silicone plus caulking, just good old 100% silicone)Silicone the crap out of the top of the rubber ring (1)Silicone the bottom of the since where the rubber ring slides up to (2), and then slide up as far as you can by hand.Silicone the top of the threaded brass washer that tightens the rubber ring to the bottom of the sink.Unthread the extension tube (4) and silicone the threats at the top and the top washer inside the tube.WAIT 12 Hours!

Great product.
I recently had the displeasure of completely renovating my bathroom in a house that's close to 80 years old. Tear out to studs, all of which were out of plumb and out of square...along with the floor. Everything I've done has been a struggle. Stuck galvanized plumbing fixtures, petrified studs that stripped drywall screws...you name it. Along comes this drain assembly. The design was intuitive. Just by eyeballing it I could see how it installed. Checked the instructions and yep...that's it. I used 100% clear silicone where it meets the sink, and again where the bottom gasket meets the sink dropout (below the overflow level). It felt very well machined, no struggles with threads, gaskets...anything. As other reviews have stated, make sure you purchase the correct drop out for your type of sink. The one pictured (with the holes between the gasket) are designed for sinks with overflows. If you buy one of these and try to use it with a sink that has no overflow. You're going to have issues. Great product.

depending on the sink drain you have, all water might not drain properly
Water doesn't fully drain from the sink. I added two picture attachments. First picture shows the drain after the water was turned on and it leaves water in the sink. Second picture shows where I twisted the popup assembly off (this is for clean out, etc) to show that the water still does not drain. The chrome washer is sitting too high (it is not flush with sink height) therefore the water just pools there and cannot drain.Turns out that all sinks drain sizes are not the same. This product fits sink drain diameter of 1-5/8” to 1-3/4”... My sink drain might need a 1-1/2" drain assembly.... That extra 1/8" evidently causes a small amount of water remain in the sink and doesn't drain completely. I had no idea that different sinks had different size drains. It was only after the drain assembly was fully installed that I noticed the problem. I was replacing an existing working drain assembly and faucet with a motion sensor faucet.I emailed the vendor and they recommend a different size drain stopper assembly. They offered a refund, but I'm still out the costs and time that it took for installation.

Would have been a 5 star, sharing my experience
The only reason this was not a 5 star was what I think is an installation flaw. I've installed many sink drains over the years and never had a leak from the flange above the sink. After installing the drain just using the enclosed washer, it leaked no matter how much I tightened. I disassembled and used both plumbers putty and the enclosed washer, as the instructions suggested. Still leaked, but more slowly. I disassembled again, cleaned everything, took off the washer like every other drain I have installed, and used only plumbers putty. Like I expected, no leaks. Other than this, the drain is high quality and looks good.

Fantastic looks
Just redid the bathroom vanity. Put in a chrome faucet but could not use the drain handle in the back because it was too close to the rear back splash. This really solved the problem and looks fantastic. The plumber told me that these actually let water flow much freer than the type that works with the lever. Just be sure you know the type of sink you have (overflow or no overflow style) and order the correct version of this drain. I'm now updating the master and will install these. Highly recommend.

My favorite new item in the entire condo refurb!
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Love these pop-up drains! They are larger in sized, beautiful nickel plated to match my faucets, and so easy to work! They easily pop right down & up, and hold water in sink with a strong vacuum hold, without leaking. Great suction without that long piece behind faucet that usually comes unhooked underneath sink, so drain ultimately doesn’t work! Not with these! They’re a dream. I wish I’d gotten these for the Master bath now! Just perfect! That’s saying a lot!
