Virago 250
Fits my Virago 250 perfectly. A must upgrade if you have this bike. Spaces the gears out nicely without losing any noticeable torque. However the main reason is the drop in rpm at 55-60 mph. Now my bike doesn't sound like it's about to explode just maintaining the speed limit.

Best upgrade for my V Star 250
Installed on my 2013 Yamaha V Star 250 and it completely changed the bike! Getting onto highways is much smoother, cruising around town is more comfortable and cruising at highway speeds is more comfortable too. Increased my top speed a little bit but the main goal was to increase the range of each gear so instead of having to be in 5th gear basically all the time, i’m now able to find usefulness in 3rd and 4th gears. 3rd and 4th gear have a lot of pull now, making it up to highway speeds at high rpms for when you need to get up and go with responsive throttle control. In my opinion, my bike should have had this sprocket from the factory. Much more control and it really unlocks a different bike and riding style. The sprocket itself seems to be made of quality material and the fitment was perfect.

Works great, perfect fit.
The 17 tooth drive sprocket for my '81 XT 250 is hard to find, as are most parts for this bike, but I found it here, installed it, and it works just fine. It appears to be of pretty high quality as well. So thank you.

This is not for a Tao Tao TBR7 you need a 428 17T
I have a 2021 Tao Tao TBR7 which takes a 428 pitch gear. If you are buying for a TBR7 be sure to look at the stamped pitch on the factory gear. Most likely it is 428. This gear is the wrong pitch 569 and way too big.

virago 250 aftermarket upgrade
I purchased this 17 tooth front sprocket along with the 38 teeth rear drive sprocket for my virago 250. All i can say is wow. before installation the stock setup had a first gear that was mainly for beginners learning to ride, "a granny gear". This gear was so low that it required you to shift halfway through a turn. I read about changing the sprockets on virago forums in order to improve top end and overall speed, someone recommended 17x38 as opposed to the stock 16x45 tooth count setup. So after shopping around i found J.T. sprockets on amazon that would fit my virago 250. It is good to see improvement. The granny gear is gone simply by having the dealer install the new sprockets. I have excellent torque and acceleration in 1st through 4th gear. 5th gear is noticeably reduced in torque but still allows the engine to idle down at highway speeds. 4th gear will have torque and acceleration all the way up to 85mph, and the engine sounds no more revved up than with the stock setup. I can cruise on the interstate with good passing authority in 4th gear easily. If you don't mind downshifting from 5th to 4th gear "where all the high end torque is" in order to take a steep incline, then this set up is for you. Like i said, given that the bikes top speed is 90mph, 4th gear to 85mph-with torque and passing power-is all you need!
