Great book for small discussion group
I really enjoyed this book. It's an easy read and has good content that is backed by scripture. I really found his discussion of crossing the "painline" to be helpful and challenging. I think this book would be great for generating discussion in a smaller group setting.

The first half of the book was engaging, then it sort of trailed off. I've watched Rico teach and appreciate his sincerity and zeal.

Very helpful and practical guide to evangelism
This is a well-written, brief book on evangelism. It contains good information both on the underpinnings of evangelism (the "why") and the practical outworking of evangelism (the "how"). Tice is very clear in his writing and main thesis. It is especially helpful to see articulated the fact that evangelism is indeed hard and involves some level of pain. This would make an excellent resource for evangelism training classes in the church.

Such a great resource on evangelism.
Rico gives such great encouragement for evangelism. Such useful information on how to to tell others about Jesus. We really need this at this time.

Evangelism
Simple but powerful read. Most of us overthink its difficulty, but under think it’s centrality to our calling. There are sheep without a shepherd, and there aren’t enough harvesters.

Getting Beyond the Pain Line
This concise book is not a how-to manual with seven supposedly easy steps or canned answers. It challenges Christians to examine Christ's call to proclaim the Gospel and work through one's motives. It is very encouraging for those who are hesitant or afraid of evangelism.

Honest & Helpful
This is a very helpful book on personal evangelism. Its strength lies in its honesty and simplicity. After an insightful foreword by D A Carson, the author begins the introduction with the confession "I find evangelism hard", and continues in this vein to the end of the book. He faces the fact that "if you tell non-Christians about Jesus, it will be painful." He says that "We must be honest about the hostility, or we'll have wrong expectations and give up on evangelism". However, this is not a negative book. He states that "we must also be excited about the hunger [some will have] or we'll have no expectations at all, and never start evangelism".Rico Tice asks helpful questions "Is it worth it?" "What must I remember?" "What do I say?" etc. His answers give a simple & helpful approach to personal evangelism. One of the most helpful and hard-hitting chapters in the book is entitled "Why we (still) won't evangelise". He tells of his failure to tell his grandmother the Gospel and concludes "I loved my grandmother - but the hard truth is I loved myself more than her - I loved myself more than I loved her and more than I loved the Lord". I found this chapter challenging.Other topics covered include the importance of prayer and of being yourself.Altogether this was an enjoyable, yet challenging, introduction to the importance and art of personal evangelism.

One of the best books I've read on evangelism
I found Rico's book one of the best books I've read on evangelism. He is very honest about his own experiences and struggles with evangelism and I appreciate that. The most helpful thing he said in this book is that we all have to cross the pain line when telling other about Jesus. I found that wonderfully encouraging & liberating because I thought I was unusual in finding evangelism hard in every situation.

Honest Evangelism is now my go to book about evangelism.
In this short book, Rico Tice winsomely shows us from the Bible: motivations to share our faith; obstacles to sharing our faith; a simple method for trying to do so; and the honest realisation that sharing our faith in a hostile culture is hard work. This book is well worth your time and serves as a brilliant starting point for helping the family of God to share the news of our great Saviour and King.

Why you should read this book
This is an honest book but don't expect it to turn you into an evangelist whizz! That requires hard work, determination, prayer ( constant) and a heart filled with Jesus. This is a good starting block with some great tips. Thank you Rico and team
