Assembling the wider of the two extensions to the child gate was a bit of a fiddle because the connectors are rather loose fitting in their housings. Ever tried to nail a blob of mercury to the wall. No, it's not that bad but you get the idea. To overcome the problem I used a light contact adhesive on the connecting pieces before pushing them into place, left the whole assembly (gate plus extension) for several hours for the adhesive to cure and the assembled gate and extension became easy to handle. The gate and the extensions (I used only the wider one) appear to be made of decent quality metal. It looks good value for money but it has yet to be tried by the "test pilot". The item was delivered within 3 days of ordering, under normal delivery.

This stair gate is sturdy enough to prevent our dog from getting upstairs but would probably need to be screwed in to the wall to stop a persistent toddler! (We are using it in a pressure fixing way).The mechanism is great - it will stay open if the door is opened beyond a certain point and then shut itself when moved towards the closed position. Also, the handle is really easy to operate with one hand.

Holidaying with 20 month old grandson in unknown holiday cottage this gate covered the largest possible width range of stair opening. It worked well and kept a very determined little boy safe.If you know where you are going to use a stair gate the exact size one would by much cheaper, but for holidaying with a toddler this is a wise buy.

Thought this was a little pricier than the average, probably because it was an expandable gate for an opening larger than the average at the bottom of the stairs. Opening and closing mechanism easy to use with a one handed movement which is very beneficial to anyone holding a baby or suffering with a touch of arthritis.

A good sturdy baby gate. I have a shop and have actually bought it to place at the door in preparation for when we reopen when lockdown measures are eased. As a small independent shop this and a door bell is the easiest way to ensure that we limit the number of people in the shop at any one time to ensure social distancing and safety. Simple but effective.

This is my second pressure gate purchase recently as getting ready for a new dog but this one does not live up to expectations.First off when putting the extension pieces on they fit very loosely so feels wobbly and makes installation a little fiddly.There were 4 screws that came in the package but not one mention in the instructions of what to do with them as they aren’t clear at all.Tightened as instructed so that the gate wouldn’t move but then actually opening and closing the gate is difficult. Not only with the mechanism to unlock it but you have to use both hands to pull it away from the part of the gate it clicks into to avoid pulling the whole gate apart.I wouldn’t buy again. Luckily it’s just temporary for a small dog but I wouldn’t trust this gate if I had to use it for children.

After two months of normal usage, the moving part which fixes the door is broken (please see the picture of the broken piece and the screenshot which indicates the part which is broken).I am utterly disappointed but the worse part is I could not find any indication of how to report any defect on this product page....
