Ok, but not brilliant, would like it to be stronger, and with a longer lead.
At certain angles it can be good (used at 90 degress on a single shoulder), and it may suit more delicate bodies as the overall action isn't that strong. So rating and evaluations can be very subjective. The lead could certainly be made much longer, considering most plugs are at floor level, and this has to stretch up onto your shoulders. The heat option is minimal, takes too long to generate any real heating. The price was reasonable however, thus the 3/5 star rating is fair in my view. Some people may find the action more suitable, again it can be subjective.

Massager
Hi Tech appearance and effective performance make this electronic neck massager a winner. The massager has variable settings so even if you only want a gentle bout of neck kneading , this clever device can deliver. Alternatively, more vigorous sessions can be enjoyed by turning up the dial.Recommended.

Mono massage - one speed only
I’m a fan of Homedics product, they are usually very well made and work effectively. I am however slightly disappointed by this neck massager, as it doesn’t offer very much in terms of variation and is only focussed on one area of the anatomy with no application for other areas, such as the shoulders, which generally are also affected with a tense or sore neck. The unit itself is pretty straightforward. The device has shiatsu nodules either side of the neck which rotate to give the deep massage. There is only one speed (the blurb in the Amazon page is incorrect), with or without heat. I think it would have been better with the two speeds, as this would have provided variation and choice. The heated element is very minimal, it practically feels the same as the no heat option, so for me it would have been preferable to have two speeds and no heat.To operate the neck massager you just pop it around your neck and pull down on the straps to keep it in good contact with your neck (though it did also find if you lean back on a pillow it gives the same pressure but with no hands required!). It definitely works and I didn’t find the shiatsu nodules too hard, despite there being in a thin material between the nodules and your neck, but for me I didn’t find it really helped as much as I had hoped. It’s quite a bulky item, so not the easiest to store and I think you would be better to keep it in the box for storage due to its slightly odd shape. If you’re only using it for occasional use, then the size of it is a bit bulky and you would have to think if you would get sufficient benefit for the space it takes up.So overall, it’s a bit of a miss for me, but everyone’s anatomy and experiences are different, so it may work better for you.

Mixed results, but a well made neck massager
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the item, wasn’t sure looking at the image if it was going to be of any quality, its well made, good materialsUsing it takes a bit of getting used to, Its a little uncomfortable to begin with, it has a variable intensity control which took a bit to know what was the best, this reminded me of one of those chairs you get in service stations, that pushes your back etc.The results were mixed, it didn’t really relax the neck, but it wasn’t also a horrid experience, the warm soft massage was the best I thought. This is a well made product that is good, not amazing but If you’re looking for this type of massager then Its worth a look.

Nice but a bit awkward to use and didn't really do anything for my shoulder
I was excited to try this, but ultimately quite disappointed. The device sits on your shoulders and feels quite like fingers when you switch it on for the massage. In order to get any real pressure you have to hold the straps, which tenses up the muscles in your shoulders, which defeats part of the purpose. It also just massages in just one area - unsurprising given the price. If you need something like a deep tissue massage then this device isn't going to be worth the time and I would explore a massage gun which you can use to target any area.If you want something that will give a firm massage, then this might be right for you.It is fairly cheap, but, candidly, I am not sure it is worth it.

Effective massage but of limited use
The actual massage this gadget gives is fairly decent. I have tried many of this type of thing and none so far have matched the intensity or individuality of a real person doing a real massage, which is fairly obvious and understandable I think. So it is important to judge this in comparison to other machines of this type and not as a replacement for a real massage. And in comparison to other machines that I have tried, it does give a fairly strong massage. It also comes with two handles with the idea being that you hang on to these and pull on them. Thus you can adjust the position of the massaging bits to some extent, and also by pulling it more firmly in to your neck, you can increase the pressure of the massage. So there is some way of adjusting and varying it. However, along with the potential of a firm massage, is the other side of the coin which is that it is not a soft gadget at all. The actually massaging 'balls' are hard with no cushioning and so after a while, this could become a little painful. The choice of heat is an added bonus if one has a sore neck. However, while this might seem obvious since it is marketed as a NECK massager, this is all it does. Some competing products which are shaped differently can be used on various parts of the body (for instance, I have a pillow shaped device that I can place on my neck, back, legs, etc - it too both massages and applies heat and it thus more versatile). This gadget is not small nor is it flexible so it takes up quite a bit of space to store, and the question is whether to sacrifice the money (and storage space) to buy a product that does one thing or whether to spend the same amount of money on something that can be used in a range of ways. Personally I would prefer the latter so while this is a decent little product and does what it is supposed to do fairly well, it would not be my first choice in this range of products.
