Good place to start
This is an excellent introduction to boxing. The author covers each major aspect of the sport. The content is well organized and cohesive. The book may be a bit hard for a young boxer to follow; but, a parent will find it invaluable.

best weights section in a "how to book....for boxing"
I have been working out in various martial arts for 20+ years and have lots of "how to books" this is by far the best martial arts/boxing book I have read in terms of a realistic weights, plyometrics and ton-up's routine/suggestions.....anyone looking to take up boxing should buy this as it covers most aspects that can be taught without a coach and apart from a small section in Joe Frasiers book (which is only a small bodyweight workout) is the only book I have read dedicated to boxing that has a good weights section, also, covers running, sprints, diet, technique etc and Gary Blower is an ABA coach - so you know his information is up-to-date and being taught to good boxers and is proven.

Good basic overview of boxing technique
Good basic overview of boxing, with a focus on amateur moves. Useful for a non-boxer who wants to incorporate something into their martial arts training.

Good for getting drills from
Does what it says on the tin! Good for getting drills from. Obviously you can't just imitate the pictures to learn, you'll have to go down an actual boxing club, but it's a very helpful extra.
