Keeps the hot out
I use these mittens when I bake bread. I heat a cast iron enameled pot to almost 500 degrees F and bake bread inside of it. First you have to put the pot in the oven to get it hot, then take it out and place your bread dough inside. The put the hot lid on top, and back in the oven. Then you have to take the lid off halfway through. When the bread is done, you have to take the whole very hot pot out of the oven and place it on the stove. Sometimes the bread sticks and you really have to pull to get it out.All these actions are dangerous when you are dealing with a 500 degree oven and pot! These mittens never stick to the pot or the bread, I never feel any heat, they protect my forearms, which is important because they could get scorched. They work beautifully.

MADE IN CHINA
Specifically stated in many places that the product was from a “small business in the USA”. Received the product and it clearly states “MADE IN CHINA” on a huge label on the package. Returning immediately! Dishonest description!

I could hold the sun with these on
I had the unfortunate experience of using a cloth over mitt that had gotten wet and the heat came right through onto my hands and it hurt. A lot. With my burned hand I ran to Amazon to get a heat resistant oven mitt and settled on these as it was a pair and looked right to do the job of keeping my hands out of the burn ward. They did all that and more. They are big. They are comfortable. They let no heat whatsoever come through to your hands. I have held onto a cast iron pan out of the oven and didn't even feel the temp inside the glove go up a degree. Perfect. Recommended.

Careful of how long you hold your hot item
The glove feel great and are very easy to clean. The negative is the inner padding that keeps heat from penetrating is not thick. If you are taking a cast iron pan out of the oven after being in there for 30 min at 425, you will feel the heat after 10 seconds- 15 seconds you won’t be able to hold the pan.

These are the BEST oven mitts I've ever had
My old quilted oven mitts were cute to look at but had some thin spots in them where I could feel the heat and nearly dropped things a couple of times. These are the BEST oven mitts I've ever had. They are very flexible so you can get a firm grip on whatever you're taking out of the oven. I held onto a casserole dish for a few extra seconds as I was taking it from the oven and couldn't feel the heat at all. They come far enough up my arms so I know I won't accidentally burn myself on the wall or top of the oven as I've done in the past. They are soft and comfortable on the inside. Today I spilled something on them and I just wiped them with a wet cloth and they were clean again. I highly recommend these.

HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They look nice, but the heat resistance is seriously lacking. They are good for lifting a pot from the stove or removing a hot lid, but alas, these are oven mitts. I removed a heavy duty pan from a 425 deg oven, and I was carrying it in the next room. My wife got in my way, so while I waited for her to get the heck out of my way, I realized that my hands were getting hot. Moments later I was running back to the stove to drop the pan. Holey Mackerel, that was HOT! My old $5 mitts do a better job of protecting my hands. The insulation on the inside is too thin, and the polyester fabric is way too slick. The silicone holds the pan firmly, but your hands are all over the place on the inside. It is also difficult to grab small things like a pot lid (yeah forget what I wrote earlier) because the mitt slips out of your hand before you can grasp it. You end up making a fist in the mitt. These mitts need a rework.

Silicone outside tore easily-seam weak
I have had these mitts for a couple years now. I like them for ease of use and heat resistance, but not that long after I got them I managed to tear a hole in the silicon of the glove by catching it on one of the "tines" of my gas stove burner grate. I will take most of the blame, but that silicone sure is thin! I little bit thicker and that would not have happened. I am searching for a new set of mitts, but it will not be these because of this weakness. EDIT: Just looked closely at the tear and did a little "destructive testing": The initial tear happened right at the (silicone) seam where the two halves of the glove (palm side/back side) are "welded" together along the perimeter. I am able - with great ease - to pull the halves apart along this seam, much easier than trying to tear into the interior of the glove (palm or back). Production flaw 100%.

Slippery Mitt Interior
These mitts do protect very well from heat. I am taking off two stars because other than silicone they are 100% polyester, the label inside the mitt says hand wash and the interior is a bit slippery. Where the silicone exterior is nice for gripping I feel like my hands might slip out of the mitts if I'm not careful.
