Omissions and errors mar an otherwise well-written book set
These two books are well written and presented, but they are far from comprehensive. I own several other books on knives and swords that offer more complete coverage. Further, I discovered that there are numerous errors in the indices of both books, the main type being page references to items or topics that don't actually appear on the referenced page. So, the bottom line is nice books for the price, but could have been a lot better.

A good book but incomplete
While an interesting and entertaining book with may high quality photos, this is far from a complete reference book as it apparently focuses only on knives as weapons and completely ignores some very famous knives (like the Finnish Puukko knife or the Saami Leuku, or the Bavarian Nicker).

This was a present for my father he loved this set. It is comprehensive. Beautiful photos and text in a two volume set.
