From the Manufacturer Fully battery operated and remote-controlled from a distance The MaceAlert SOLO Motion Detector Alarm is the perfect all-in-one home or office alarm unit for detecting motion in any area with local alerting. It is ideal for basic security in single room applications like detached garages, storage sheds, hallways, stairways, and even for visitor detection in unattended reception areas. The Mace Difference This stand-alone alarm unit is fully battery operated and remote-controlled for conveniently changing between Alarm Siren or Chime Sound notification modes and requires no wiring or monitoring service. The motion detector uses PIR technology allowing detection of both people and pets. From easy installation to simple operation, the Mace difference is clear: Alarm mode With the mode selector switch on the keychain remote control set to ALARM, simply press the ARM button. The alarm unit will beep and its LED indicator will start flashing until a 45 second exit-delay time expires, at which point the alarm unit will be armed. The exit-delay allows time for you to leave the protected area without triggering the alarm. If the built-in PIR motion detector senses motion while the system is armed, then the alarm will beep and the LED indicator will start flashing until a 30 second entry-delay time expires, at which point the 120dB+ siren sound will activate. The entry-delay allows time for you to DISARM the alarm when entering the protected area before the siren activates. To stop the Alarm simply press the DISARM button on the keychain remote control. A wall-mountable, compact spot alarm for simple deterence. Chime mode With the mode selector switch on the keychain remote control set to CHIME, simply press the ARM button. The alarm unit will instantly produce a door-chime sound without delay, each time the built-in PIR motion detector senses motion while the system is armed. Panic feature In the event of personal threat or danger, the alarm siren can be immediately initiated at any time from the keychain remote controls. Be alerted to motion from the presence of people, pets, and even pests in any single area application. Smart The MaceAlert SOLO Motion Detector Alarm has 120-degree wide-angle motion detection up to 20ft distance, automatic entry and exit time delay feature for reducing false alarms, and the LED on the front of the alarm unit flashes continuously to let you know when it's time for a battery change. Works for its intent
For a simple motion detector/alarm it works fine. The batteries lasted about months on standby mostly. I have it positioned where it will only be triggered by a person walking by (corner of a hallway). Two remotes are nice so you can have one at each end. The product met basic expectations, but I didn't find the price to be a good value.

When wifi is not an option.
I uses these at all my businesses and properties that don't have wi-fi. Hide them in attics... Safes, air vents, etc. I have wi-fi security systems where it is available. My favorite place to hide them is on the roof somewhere... Many places to hide the alarm.

Garbage
Goes off for no reason even when I took it down and put it in a drawer. Yet didn't when I had it up and people walking right infront of it. Total garbage.
