Married? Happily!? : Game on…

Most of us assume that marriage is the end of everything in life. You work hard struggling through your career - climbing up the ladder of success step-by-step sequentially in order to achieve the one thing; which has been pretty much preordained & predefined by most of us as 'marriage.' And this is prevalent & can most likely be seen in the Indian subcontinent, where the people (citizens) mostly abide by the well defined norms set up by the society which gives priority to matchmaking. They're made to believe that marriage is the ultimate goal in life & hence, getting a good life partner (mostly a beautiful bride or a good-looking groom with a good source of income or huge bank balance rather than acknowledging their talents) becomes the main priority/aim in life. Things like settling down in life at an early stage has become more relevant than gaining talent, achieving something great mainly based on the skills or contributing something for the welfare/benefit of the society is considered to be trivial.It has become so ingrained in our systems that no matter what we may have achieved in life or worked hard to gain knowledge of all relevant things, they all end up becoming irrelevant paling in comparison in front of this aspect of life. Because at the end of the day, some or the random person will just come with the same old questions like - Are you married? When are you planning to get settled? When are you going to have kids? & so on getting us completely unnerved or ruffled.Well I'm not completely against the idea of marriage. I believe it's the foundation of a beautiful life, having a small loving family. It's the fundamental aspect of life especially when we grow old when we need someone to look after us. It's just the nuances associated with this context which gets me irked up to a great extent. People are more concerned about our marriage which maynot be our immediate priority rather than acknowledging their conventional concern about our well-being. This book focuses on the latter part of what I discussed earlier along with some of the problems which couple commonly face leading to dissapointment or loss of interest or spark in married life. It helps men & women understand & also identify the key factors necessary to live together & sustain it for a long time via finding happiness & personal growth!

The word marriage has always made me scrunch my nose and roll my eyes. It's nothing to do with the society and yet everything to do with it along with my own beliefs and prejudices. The idea of marriage is unsettling to me because I am a person who gets scared by the idea of spending my whole life with my own self and then I wonder, if I'm so sick of myself, how will another person get used to the absolute mess that I am? 😂 This is just one among the many thoughts that haunt me when I think of spending my life with a person who is not my mother. This book is a guide for married couples and talks about the basic concepts and ideas that when followed can lead to a happy marriage. It talks about the importance of communication, to understand yourself, self discovery, compatibility among other things. A lot of these guidelines have been around for a while now, used in counselling for people and I feel like they can only be as useful as the listener wants them to be. The approach is to make people see that the ideal marriage is not something that is merely a fantasy but something that can be your reality as long as you're willing to put effort. The language is simple and lucid. I appreciate the effort but it didn't touch me in a way, maybe because it didn't resonate with me in a way that it would for people who are in a committed relationship. The book's target audience is very specific and I'd suggest this to that bunch only. Not sure, it's something that would interest everyone.

A short and simple book with a strong message about marriage. It is both for men and women who want to make their marriage stronger and enjoy marital bliss.The tips are practical and the explanations to the various issues are an eye opener. No body hurts each other deliberately in a marriage it's the the situation that makes us behave in a particular manner. If we can put our egos aside and work together then a fun and exciting game is just starting .
