Sturdy, minimalist, easy to assemble
I wanted a hammock stand that was minimalist in design, yet very sturdy and easy to dis-assemble and store over the winter months. This one clicks together or apart in a jiffy and stores compactly. It worked perfectly for our double-size rope hammock and was fairly easy to drag and relocate on the lawn without needing two people to move it. I think this one is going to stand the test of time because of its quality construction, but if I ever needed to buy a new one, I'd get one of these again in a heartbeat.

Good value and durability so far.
Bought to replace a wood stand that rotted in two years. This stand spent all season in the yard and still looks great. Stainless hardware held up great so far. There was a tiny bit of rust inside the tubes when I disassembled it for the winter, but hopefully it will last a lot longer than the wood stand. Overall, it's sturdy and stable. The steel tubing is very good quality and the welds and connections are all very good as well. The main issue that I have with it is that the S-hooks tend to fall out whenever I move the stand to mow around it and also when I'm taking the hammock down, but it's only a minor inconvenience.

Castaway Hammock Stand: Impossible to assemble
This would probably be a great product if only you could assemble it. No tools are required; this should have been a 10 minute project ... but the parts don't fit together. Two of the three poles I received in my package do NOT fit over the posts on the foot bracket, making it impossible to put this together. Tried calling the company, but it's a Sunday and all I could do is leave a message. Now instead of lounging in my hammock this afternoon I've got all these big assembly pieces lying around and I'm facing the prospect of bundling them up to return them for a refund. I am furious! Update, 8/10/12: Contacted manufacturer and explained problem. They arranged to have package picked up, would not send new product until package had arrived at their facility. I had to place another call to get them to send out the new one. It arrived, and assembly seemed to be going better ... until I got to the third pole. I got it partway onto the foot bracket and it stuck -- couldn't get it on, couldn't get it back off. Finally sprayed a buttload of WD40 on it and wrestled it on. I think I should be compensated for all the time and energy I spent trying to install pieces that didn't fit right, but at least my hammock stand is now assembled and holding up my hammock!

Solid but Arms are too low so Hammock Drags on Ground
The Hammock hooks for a Myan hammock should be 6 feet off the ground. The hooks for this hammock stand are about 3 feet. Most of the hammock stands suffer from being too low. I have a welding shop and will extend the arms. The hammock stand is useless to me, as it is. If I stretch the hammock out strait when I sling the hammock, the frame will still bend enough to put me on the ground, when my 185 pounds is added to the hammock. In fairness, the welding and finishing is good. Mine was assembled without tools and only minor problems. As hammock stands go, I suspect this is one of the better products of it's type. For a spreader bar hammock, with the user lying end to end, the stand is probably usable, but very close to the ground.Avoid any hammock stand, if you can. Secure your hammock to a tree, house, or other fixture, you are much better off not buying a hammock stand. As a hammock user for 40 years, I can tell you that for comfort, canvas hammock are the bottom of the barrel, the various spreader bar hammocks are the middle of the road products and the Mayan hammocks are the absolute best design by far.Users of Mayan hammocks will never switch back to the lesser designs. The Mayan hammock provides much better support, but you do have to learn to use and handle them properly. It is not difficult, but there are a couple of tricks someone can show you in a minute or two. Probably You Tube could help. "Hammock Boutique" on Amazon sells the finest Mayan hammocks for a very reasonable price, (disclosure: I am only a happy customer). In summary:Buy a Myan Hammock and hang it from something else. If you have a spreader bar hammock and are going to stick with it, this is probably one of the better stands of this type.

hammock stand
I ordered this stand for my back yard because I have no trees that would support a hammock. I do like that it is a dark green so it 'blends' with the backyard. I find the supports very unstable, they move and give while getting in and out of the hammock. While it seems to be doing its job so far, I do not have high hopes for longevity.

worth every penny
I purchased this in 2013 and has been using it since July of 2015 when it was stolen. The frame is heavy duty and can be assembled with ease with a single person. There are rubber caps to cover the opening as the frame is hollow.I'm 180lb and my dog is 120 and we can both sleep in the hammock at the same time, which alot of weekends we do. I was concern about how the frame attaches since it uses a thin metal button to secure it, I wasn't sure if the button will last but for 2 years with 300lb of man and beast sleeping in it and swaying in there isn't a dent or crack. If you purchased this new you might want to coat the inside with some weather proofing paint before using it outdoors, something like a Krylon topcoat will do.The reason is that after many days sitting in the sun, rain, and snow rust will build up on the inside and when moving the frame from one location to another I've been hit with a sludge of rust and water.I plan to replace my stolen hammock stand soon.

It's Perfect!
We bought a Castaway Hammock first, intending to hang it up between two 4 x 4 wooden posts we had sunk in the yard for our first hammock 15 years ago. Little did we realize that the wood had rotted right above the concrete poured in to support the uprights. When my 200 lb. husband got in the hammock, the posts sagged inward. Oops. We bought this stand based on its looks, the good reports of others on Amazon and because it was the same manufacturer. It's perfect! Looks great, works great, and is light enough to move around and simple enough to take apart easily. We recommend this product very highly.
