Love this product. The main factor will be how it fits in the users mouth. It cannot be adjusted, so as ill fit, such as rubbing gums or inside lips could cause irritation. It is manufactured to fit a wide variety of mouth sizes, so if you have concerns about nighttime teeth grinding or jaw clenching, this could be an inexpensive fix. I figured the cost was worth a try, and I have use this product on and off for years with excellent results.

This is an excellent mouth guard for the price. I grind my teeth at night. My dentist suggested that they could make a very expensive mouth guard. I decided to try this one instead. I had tried some other OTC mouthguards for grinding. They were very uncomfortable to wear and/or DID NOT stay in place when I fell asleep. This one is easy to place properly, stays in place, much more comfortable, and much more affordable than what the dentist suggested. This is my 3rd order. I reorder one about every year. They keep improving the size and shape. This one is the most comfortable TotalGard I've had. Everyone's mouth and preferences are different. Give this one a try before going to a more expensive alternative. If you are not used to wearing a mouth guard, try running it under warm water before you place it in your mouth. You can wear it on either top teeth or bottom teeth. Experiment and see what feels best to you. I suggest wearing it for a little while during the day so you know what it feels like before you lay down at night.

I wanted to get a new mouth guard because I grind my teeth at night, which results in waking up with migraines. I read the positive reviews on here, and compared to the other mouth guard reviews, this one was the highest rated. However, I believe this is very misleading.The mouth guard is the "one size fits all" type, which is not a good thing since people's mouths vary drastically in size. Even if you cut it, as suggested, it is not going to fit. I have a small mouth, so this was way too big and uncomfortable. It also slid around in my mouth and came out of place easily, making me worried that I might choke on it at night.The main thing that I really took issue with was how extremely uncomfortable it was. I used a sports mouth guard before I tried this. It had to be boiled and molded to my mouth, and the plastic was soft and bendy. This mouth guard was made of very hard plastic, was very rigid, and the edges were somewhat sharp and cut into my gums. I cannot imagine anybody wearing this night after night, even if it did fit perfectly!I am going to continue to use my $0.99 sports mouth guard, even though it is too big, until I can find a better one. I just cannot stand the TotalGard one. It is awful.

cheap and not very comfortable but it keeps your teeth apart. the middle is open and that is where I grind the most during sleep. case is nice.

My dentist says I grind my teeth based on his examination of my teeth wear. In order for me to protect my investment of expensive dental work I need to wear a guard. I have been using this product for several years now and recently purchased a new one. The price for a custom guard at the dentist is expensive. Like some of the negative reviews of this product, the first time I purchased this product there was a period of uncomfortable wear. This is a foreign object to your mouth so at first you are going to salivate more. Eventually your mouth accepts it as part of you and this will stop occurring. It also irritated the inside of my mouth and I had to make some adjustments by trimming and smoothing some areas but after a few nights it was comfortable to wear. I have never had this fall out my mouth and I have never almost swallowed it. As I said I have worn this product for several years and Just bought a new one this past week. This new one is a little different than the previous versions I owned. It came in a new case and the product itself seems to be made out of a softer and more pliable material. I have used it the past 4 nights without any issues. The edges seem to be smoother and I did not have to make any adjustments to it at all. It seems to be the exactly same size but improved. I would have rated the product a 4 if what I received would have required the usual adjustments that I have done in the past but this time I did not have to do anything to it. Outstanding!

I wasn't sure about this type, but it is definitely less bulky than the ones you need to heat and then bite to shape. You can wear on either your upper or lower teeth but not comfortable for my lower teeth. Apparently you can cut, but I would be worried that may cause a sharp end. I have only used once, so not sure how durable this is-time will tell.It's been a couple of months and the guard is working great. I definitely will buy again when I chew this one to pieces. So far it's intact.

I just bought two of the dental guards at $9.99, S&L included from Dental-mart.com through amazon in June. I want buy another today but the amazon price has changed to $23.83. What a goug! The MSRP price is only $14.95. Dental-mart.com is selling at $12.99 plus $4 flat shipping that is a whole a lot better than $23.83.This is a perfect dental guard for me and two daughters. I want to be able to buy them at competitive price when I need to replace them. So now I am leaving amazon and going to dental-mart.com to buy them today.I can't believe amazon.com would do this bait and switch game with their loyal customers. I check amazon price first before I buy anything because I believed amazon is a trust-worthy and competitive vendor. Never imagined amazon would sell it so much higher than MSRP price.Maybe amazon is getting too comfortable with their loyal customers and taking granted for the good reputation being a competitive vendor! Buyers be aware!
