Unexpectedly stunning!!
I am so shocked in the best way by this color! First, I thought it was going to be an inky almost black blue, and while it can get dark & a bit inky at full saturation, it’s not super dark.It is the genuine color of blue kyanite and reminds me of a pale celestite when watered down. It’s a medium to dark very cool shade of blue, somewhat muted — think moody rain clouds, sparkling crystals, unique botanicals and dreamy skies 😻.I was expecting not to like it once I learned that it’s metallic — I like metallic paints but usually only to highlight something and they can be hard to work with depending on the brand. But this one is absolutely amazing!! The granulation, paired with the sparkles creates some really fun textures and unexpectedly lovely patterns 🫶🏽

Be Sure and Read The Description
This is an absolutely gorgeous blue but there is one facet of it I did not realize. It has glitter in it. Yeah. I went by tube color only and lol that was a mistake. DS watercolors are always nice but I definitely recommend reading Amazon's description and if poss go to the DS website first to read all the true pigment info; otherwise, if you want a mid-blue with glitter.. then this is for you.

A great Primatek color
I'm trying to collect all of the Primatek colors that Daniel Smith has to offer. This is one of my favorites, I love the natural iridescent effect it has.

Amazing for highlighting dark blues or adding shimmer
Kyanite Genuine adds an amazing, subtle shimmer that can’t be matched by artificial glitter or metallic watercolors. I use it as an accent to Daniel Smith Indigo and it creates a beautiful effect. ❤️

Beautiful and useful color.
Daniel Smith paints are high quality. I like most of them, but this color is a winner.

Not Blue, but Grey with mineral glitter
This is one of the first Primatek colors I purchased. I had high expectations of this pigment and was greatly disappointed, mainly because the description of describing it as bluish or blue-grey is very misleading . It is actually a sparkly grey. I suppose if you mix it with a tiny bit of blue, it might bring out it's blueness, otherwise, expect a grey paint with lots of sparkly bits.

Gorgeous color
I think this is one of my favorite colors from Daniel Smith. Kyanite is a very interesting gem/crystal as it is pleochroic (showing different colors from different directions) and it has two hardnesses in each crystal. This makes it very difficult to cut as a gemstone but wonderful for refractory and industrial uses. The hardest part of the stone is what gives this paint it's twinkle. The soft blue has micro sparkles throughout. Very subtle, but can add a little magic to whatever painting it is included in.
