Well constructed valve - ideal for home use
This is well manufactured valve, no sharp edges, easy to operate. Connects directly to a home garden hose. Lever is pretty easy to operate and smooth, can be operated with just your thumb, no need to use your entire hand.Valve is pretty good lubricated, I left mine all the time exposed to environment and haven’t had any issue with it being seize or damaged.Would definitely recommend it

Well built and after a (now 2 years) of constant use and abuse it still works flawlessly!
July, 2019, and another year (almost) of using this frequently for professional use and it is still working perfectly! The ball valve doesn't leak and the handle still turns on and off with minimal pressure.Original post:I bought this a year ago next week and I've used it professionally for my side business cleaning roofs and houses as well as around the house and it is still easy to turn to open and close the valve. The handle being angled up like this is either a curse or blessing depending on your point of view. If you ever pull the hose to you, the handle ends up full of grass and dirt. On the flip side, it is easier to maneuver than others I've used, and you can easily hook it on your pocket or belt momentarily versus dropping the hose and bending down to pick it up, which at the end of the day after going up and down ladders and dragging hoses around, every little bit helps! My other two similar shut off valves are not in as good of shape. One still functions fairly well, but the other will not open or close...it's just a dead weight on the end of the hose and has locked onto the hose. I'll be buying more of these next year when I'm ramping up when the weather warms up some in late winter.

Great Addition to your Hose
This ball valve is solid. The operation is simple and easy to use. The lever is larger than many other choices in this type of valve, but it is smooth and sturdy. Since this is solid brass + stainless steel, it is heavier than the smaller or plastic options, but the feel is great. There have been no drips or leaks.

Excellent quality with one design flaw
I bought one of these ball valves in 2016 so I could have a shut-off at the end of the hose for quickly changing attachments with a quick disconnect. Perfect setup for my needs. All brass and stainless on all components (don't ever buy aluminum for plumbing, it WILL corrode and you WILL be sorry because you'll be replacing it multiple times over the same lifespan as a brass equivalent).Internal seals are excellent, presumably teflon. Machining on the brass is also good. Ball itself is stainless and seats well against the teflon seals. Serviceability of the unit (seals/o-rings) is good with one exception. The one design flaw in this valve is that the stem from the ball through the housing to the outer lever is brass. Why is that a flaw? Because brass is soft. Yes, it's resilient to corrosion, but so is stainless steel. The ball is stainless, and so is the nylon locknut. But why Underhill made the stem also out of brass is beyond me. It should be stainless steel so that the threads don't strip. This is important because there's a lot of torque that is applied by the lever through the stem to the ball. This results in eventual wear of the threads until the point of failure. See attached photos.Hope Underhill's engineering team sees this and switches from brass to stainless. I'm sure the materials and machining cost will be minimal, and will result in a far more durable product.

Really nice, but NOTE: not for potable water.
Had a cheap but highly-rated Chinese heavy-duty brass valve that looks an awful lot like this one. It failed in about a year (but with pretty frequent use). Dripping when the lever is closed.I wanted one that would last longer, so I got the Underhill. Then (unfortunately) I discovered that the Underhill is not potable water rated. My fault, not Underhill's or Amazon's. The valve worked fine for the short time that I used it, and seems really well-built.SO: I have no reservations other than that it is not suitable for potable water. (Eley makes a heavy-duty brass valve for potable water...and you'll pay good money for that quality and for the potability.)SO: 5 stars for non-potable use.

Well machined and smooth to open/close
I have another cheaper 3/4" shutoff valve similar to this. The Underhill version is machined smoother and opens/closes a little nicer. Neither the Underhill nor the brand X leak, but if you want a touch nicer product Underhill is the way to go.

Great valve, good flow
This is a nice valve. I've for years purchased metal and plastic high flow valves from Home centers. They worked great for almost one season.. They they either leaked or stopped working. I pretty much took a chance on these looking for something that might last long term. I've only had it a few months, but so far, sitting outdoors, it hasn't leaked. Flow is great, as evidenced by the large ball. I wish it was a larger orifice ball, but it's still much better larger, and better than ones I've seen and used at Home Centers. I bought two more of these. I recommend them. The lever is a good size to be easy to actuate, but not so big it gets in a way or gets caught on things. I use this with quick connects for my pressure washer, and other hoses for garden. Hope it lasts.

Fabulous if you need to switch out hose attachments without turning off the hose.
I am an avid gardener who is constantly changing out hose attachments. My technique for doing so has been to make a super kink in the hose with my knee as I try to change attachments without pressure building up and my getting sprayed in the face. So I found out about this from a YouTuber who was washing his siding and said that he had one on all of his hoses. I ordered this one because it is solid brass and the quality seemed sound. My gardening world was rocked! I know this is simple thing that I was the last to know about, but it has made my garden chores so much simpler. This one is solid brass and the quality is excellent.
