I’ve read the first three parts of this series, with one more to go. As I read it, I had the thought, of the immortal Ladies of the Lake, Lady Lily and Lady Lauren, Mermaids who can live under the waters of the lake but also on land, that this saga was about to wrap up. But no. In this 300 year old tale of the two remaining mermaids and their descendants, who are half mermaid and half human, has much still to tell. When Lily is kidnapped by Micah, a child prodigy who has invented microscopic machines, nanobots, that keep him alive when the rest of the humans in the world have died off. He aims to study Lily, to find out the secret of her immortality; however, his miniature monsters of murdering sand have now become self-aware and have turned on Micah, their master and now the entire world is in peril.Each of the descendants of Lily and Lauren have their own stories unfolding, each of whom is his or her own interesting character. When the crew takes on the task of getting Lily back from her kidnapper, and then rescuing the rescuers, we discover the sometimes hidden motivations of this extended family. A beautifully written action packed multi-generational fantasy destined to be a classic.

I'm really enjoying this series, and the 3rd book has been very interesting. I look forward to reading the 4th!
