Really like product
Light weight, yet sturdy enough to last years. Just purchased new ones because of longer hikes, 2 dogs, and warmer temperatures- have given them as gifts.

The least-dumb dog water bottle.
Its far from perfect, but all the other options are more dumb. I have had one of these for years, and recently the belt clip broke off, as well as the little loop at the top. Neither of which were particularly strong. Not too comfy to try and stick in a pocket. Its a folding water bottle, and sure, the extra water can't be put back in, but after a few uses you can usually get about the right amount of water for the dog, except when they are being stubborn and don't want to drink.

Bad design. It may leak first use or later!
I see why there are bad reviews for leaking and problems dispensing water. This is because of poor design, engineering. Granted, the cost outlay is not great but multiplied by items sold it is a lot in aggregate. Amazon should pull these until the company resolves this issue; engineering types will keep posting to warn people not to spend their money, even though the idea is good. Here’s the problem. The ball dispenser is meant to be closed when the bottle is seated in the tray and open when the bottle is upright. There is a slotted key in the tray to hold the ball in place while the bottle rotates around the ball. The “axle” on the ball has a D-shaped end which is designed to fit into the slotted key cap, which essentially snaps in place and has an o-ring to prevent leakage. In the design, the key cap/axle end is the weak point. See pic, yellow distortion of plastic at the corners, cap receptacle. Why? Unaccounted for torque caused by bottle rotation. This torque is directly related to how tight a customer closes the bottle. The gasket between bottle and ball changes the “feel” of tightness by the customer and them wanting to make sure it doesn’t leak. If one barely seats the bottle to the gasket there may not be an issue. However, not even really over tightening, it puts puts enough tension on the ball that the resulting rotational torque will spin the axle in the slotted cap; the cap itself can not rotate. Once that happens it deforms the cap’s axle receptacle plastic and it will no longer keep the ball in designed position. Ultimately it leaks when supposed to closed and will not dispense when supposed to be open. Other times it is between open/closed in either position. If yours is leaking, this may be why!

Bought my 4th one
These are awsome for walking your dog. I buy the larger one and fill it all the way up. It lasts for a long walk for my 2 smaller dogs. I put a small strap on it and carry it around by wrist.

A bit awkward and leaky, but still helpful
My Shih Tzu has taken a while to get used to drinking out of this. She wouldn't use it the first half a dozen times I tried to get her to drink out of it. She was used to a collapsible water dish on the ground, where she would lower her head to drink from it. With the Gulpy, even though I am very short, it is still a bit difficult to get the drinking "trough" at just the right level and angle for her to feel comfortable drinking out of it. Her best buddy in the neighborhood, a large Border Collie, went right for it on the first try, and eventually my dog got the idea.A major reason why this product rated only 3 stars is that every single time I use it, no matter how careful I am about emptying the "trough" before I fold it up into the bottle, it still leaks water on me (or on the dog). When the trough is down, the dispenser on the water bottle is open. There is no off and on; i.e., you can't open the trough and then turn on the water flow...it is automatically on when you open the trough. You need to squeeze the bottle to get much water to come out. What I assume is happening is that, after I've poured out any water the dog didn't drink, just the act of handling the bottle to fold the trough back up is enough for more water to be dispensed--hence, the ever-present drip. Two nice features are that the Gulpy has a belt clip (though, being plastic, I'm not sure how much wear you'd get out of it) and also a hole at the top to attach to a lanyard, rope, etc. On super hot days, I attach the Gulpy to the lanyard that has my house and mailbox keys on it when we go for a walk. It is awkward, but good to have along in case any of us need a drink of water to cool down.I wish I had realized when I was buying this online that there was a smaller version (10 ounce vs. this 20 ounce). That may have been better for my size dog (16 pounds and low to the ground). On the other hand, with the amount of water that's wasted with leakage, I'm not sure that the 10 oz Gulpy would get us through a trip to the beach, park, walking trail, etc.

This is the best water bottle for dogs....
I LOVE this water bottle, its fantastic & so easy to use, just flip it open, squeeze and serve. I had one before that i bought from my local pet store, but they don't seem to carry it any longer, so I was happy to find this one online.I use it when I go to the beach mostly and I wish I would have ordered it sooner, now my little dog gets just the amount of water she wants without other dogs topping the bowl over or getting sand in the water. In fact lots of other dogs running around on the beach came to drink from it because I had the cool fresh water without residue saltwater or sand in it...I also use it when I travel and I no longer end up spilling any excess water or having to bother the flight attendant to take care of what she doesn't drink. Another good thing is the clip on the back of the bottle, it is so convenient to just latch it onto her travel bag or on my own bag when I take her for longer walks. My only complaint with this is not with the product itself but with the way it is ordered. It says "assorted colours" and that Amazon will chose it for you, I have a girly-girl dog and I would have given anything for a pink (or purple) one, I even wrote a note in the gift portion to Amazon asking if they can please send me a pink one - I got a yellow, which means that they were either sold out of ALL the pinks and purples or they just didn't bother to read my note (at least it wasn't blue!)... Basically I wish there was a option to chose the colour you want when ordering...Other than that this product is great and I would absolutely recommend it to others.

Fragile and brittle
I purchased this water bottle early last year. It didn't leak and had a better way of dispensing water than the popular cheaper dog water dispensers. However, the plastic of the part where the dog drinks from is very brittle. I used the belt hook, walked into a pub and knocked the dispenser on a stool. It fell off my belt and dropped onto the timber floor and cracked. It's now utterly useless and I even tried glueing it but failed. I appreciate it was my fault, but the plastic shouldn't break from a 3ft high drop.
