AMAZING. Simply
There is one word to describe this book: AMAZING. Simply, simply amazing. Of course I'm completely thinking this book is super creepy--dolls creep me out fyi. So this book is about a girl named Alexis and her family. Her little sister Kasey is slowly becoming possessed by an evil spirit, Sarah, who had died when she was a little girl and now her spirit lives in her really creepy doll. Now Kasey is obsessed with dolls, her room is filled with so many of them [hence the creepy part of her childhood]. So Sarah is trying to kill the family members of the girls who accidentally killed her. With every book comes a hero, Alexis saves her sister and the world from the possessed doll. Alexis also forms new friendships while even mending old ones and she even finds a love interest. This book was written really well and I like that I took a risk with this book.

Creepy
This was a surprisingly good read, geared towards a younger audience, I liked that it played up the suspense and frightening aspects, without relying too much on gore-as some horror novels do. And yes, even I as an adult, I found this to be creepy, but it kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I seldom read YA anymore, having long ago outgrown the genre, but this was recommended to me by my niece, who usually doesn't like horror, but she's not a big reader in general, and it's rarer still, to hear her so enthusiastic about a book. So I decided to check this one out, and it is definitely worth the time to read and one I'd definitely recommend to fans of horror, of any age.

Perfect amount of creepiness- not enough to keep you up at night
Alexis is a pink-haired outcast. She may not have many friends, but she spends most of her time immersed in her photography. At night, both Alexis and Kasey notice a faint glow that can't be explained. It seemed to have been in the house, but through the viewfinder of her camera, Alexis realized that the light wasn't getting larger- it was getting closer. The next night, it seems as though her neurotic, oversensitive little sister, Kasey, changed. She's more put together and begins to speak differently.Alexis can feel something different about the old house they've lived in since they were children, as if there was another presence. When strange things begin to happen, she pushes them aside, figuring that her sister had just gone off the deep end. Eventually, she realizes that there's more at stake than she realized. Lives are being threatened and she has to get as much information as she can muster up in order to save the people she never thought she'd get involved with.I was torn whether to give this book a 4 or a 5 for rating. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a fast-paced read and the author kept the story interesting, with entertaining characters, dialogue, and unexpected twists and turns in the plot. Around the time I picked this book up, I didn't hear much about it and looking at the summary, I thought it was just about a creepy doll. Call me slow, but it didn't occur to me that it was about possession until someone mentioned it. There were even parts in the book where I had to stop reading just to gather what had just happened. This was the perfect read for Halloween (especially since it took place in October, as well). I wouldn't call it a scary book, but it definitely had its creepy moments. You know, the ones where you check over your shoulder or snuggle a little closer to your cat. Or maybe that's just me.I will definitely be looking into the sequel, From Bad to Cursed.

An eerie, chilling and suspenseful novel
Once upon a time there was a little girl. She was sweet and pretty and rich. Such a darling little angel, with blond hair and the greenest eyes. Everybody loved her and wanted to be her friend. They would come from miles around just to play with her at her lovely home. Then one birthday she received a present. A beautiful doll that she loved very much. She would take her everywhere she went. She would even pretend that her dolly talked back to her.Well, not everyone was quite so happy with her affection for her doll. You see, they were jealous. And jealousy can make people do bad things. Really bad things. So, the moral of this story is to always remember to play nice. Because you never know when your actions may come back to haunt you. And if not you, then maybe your daughter or your daughter's daughter. Because an angry spirit does not forget and bad girls don't always die.***Bad Girls Don't Die is Katie Alender's eerie and chilling debut novel. Part horror, part mystery, this story will capture you right at the start, pull you in and make you look over your shoulder every time a slight breeze touches the back of your neck.Alexis Warren is the school outcast who doesn't even fit in with the misfits she hangs out with. Her parents are absentee and her little sister Kasey, once outgoing and friendly, is now a thirteen-year-old weirdo with a doll collection. Even her home doesn't fit in, with its mish-mash of architectural details.Ever since her best friend left town she has preferred to spend much of her time alone, taking pictures. So when odd things start happening around the house she thinks she must be going crazy. And when her sister starts acting even stranger she wonders if maybe she's not the only one.But when her nemesis, cheerleader Megan Wiley, notices Kasey's odd behavior she has a different theory altogether. And if she's right, being crazy would be the least of their worries.Author Katie Alender has written a compelling, suspenseful and creepy story that will make you think twice about ever owning a doll, moving into an old house or stepping foot into a dark basement. The story flows smoothly even as the tension builds and is interspersed with just the right amounts of sarcasm and humor to bring some light into this dark tale. This story is a must read, not only for fans of the young adult paranormal genre, but for anyone who loves a scary story. It's got all the thrills without the gore and enough spookiness to give you the shivers.

An entertaining book
As originally seen at [...]:I had this book on my “To Read List” for a long time. I was a little bit afraid that it would be the same as many other ghosts stories in YA books. First of all, I loved the way Alender writes. She doesn’t give away the important information, maintaining the suspense and mystery of the story. The characters are well built and the plot is consistent and interesting.Alexis is perfect for the main character of this story. I couldn’t help feeling empathy for her in some parts of the story. Kasey is her younger sister, who has a passion for dolls of all types. When Kasey starts acting weird and many strange things start happening at the same time, Alexis seems to be the only person of their family noticing it. She finds herself in a difficult situation, because she loves her sister, but Kasey is not the same person anymore (at least not every time) and her actions can seriously harm those around them, including their family and even Kasey herself.Yes, it has some high school drama, but it doesn’t distract you from the other side of the plot. In fact, this teenage-life part of the plot it’s necessary for the whole plot to come together and make sense. The descriptions are very well made, especially the ones about Alexis’ house. Many times I found myself picturing the characters in a house like the ones we see in horror movies, making the plot come alive in there. It didn’t make me feel excited like the feeling I have sometimes that makes me want to keep reading more and more, but it’s an entertaining book and easy to read. After finishing reading this first book, I want to read the other books of the series. It’s not a book that will keep you awake at night because you are afraid of what is in the dark, but it gave me chills now and then.
