Disappointing followup to A Weaver Takes a Wife
I love SCS books & have read all I can find. This is a disappointment because the basic premise is so faulty. It depends upon the reader believing that the means justifies the end. The lead female lies her way into a warm, loving young family who then supports her emotionally and financially. Nice if you can get it, I suppose, but awkward, forced, and not authentic for the reader experience. And all this deception happens while a newly married couple are on their belated honeymoon. Three and even more are definitely a crowd. I found myself resenting this main character. Then there is a "romance" maybe where both parties are jointly deprecating and sharp tongued. What am I supposed to enjoy here? The answer is; love the weaver & love his wife. Yep, I adore them both. Their story and their characters are terribly let down in this continuation of what should have been a really delightful, warm story. The ending was completely ridiculous and convenient. Nothing worked because nothing was framed correctly from the very beginning.

The 'oneymoon From 'ell
In Book 1 of this series, Ethan Brundy, wealthy young mill owner, married and then won the heart of Helen, daughter of a duke. That feat required a steadiness of character and steadfastness of purpose tested severely in this sequel.Book 2 finds the Brundys going to Brighton for a delayed 3 month honeymoon. They are accompanied by 3 uninvited guests: Polly, a shopgirl in dire financial difficulty who has claimed to be Ethan's long-lost sister until she finds a solution to her problems; Aubrey, a viscount and Ethan's friend, who wants to unmask the imposter Polly; and Aubrey's mother, a very class-conscious dragon. This book is a farce rather than a romance novel. While Polly and Aubrey are the ones stumbling precipitously toward an HEA, Ethan lives a life of quiet desperation as he tries to bed his beloved wife in spite of guests and a very creaky bed. His verbal sparring with the insulting dragon-mother is particularly good.Read this one for the dialogue rather than the plot and you will have a very enjoyable afternoon.

I am in love with this series!
This follow up to The Weaver Takes A Wife is not to be missed. Ethan and Helen Brundy finally think they are getting the wedding trip in they had looked forward to after the bumpy start to their marriage. But mishap and mayhem are in the works. A woman desperately trying to keep out of the workhouse tries to impersonate his sister . Ethan knows right off that she is a fake and asks his friend to get rid of her. Helen champions this girl and takes her under her wing. Aubrey soon finds himself drawn to this lady once she tells him the truth of why she did what she did. Chaos begins when Aubrey's snobby mother insists on going with him to Brighton. Without proper housing to be found, they are forced to ask for shelter with the Brundys and the "sister". Five people, three bedrooms one set of squeaky mattress springs in the master bedroom causes frustration and embarrassment when the newlyweds feel like they have to try to keep quiet. Aubrey goes in search of answers in the case of Polly's parentage while trouble brews at Brighton. The race begins when Aubrey realizing he loves Polly and wants to marry her in spite of her being born on the wrong side of the blanket. Polly fearing of being discovered a fake takes up an offer of marriage and a run to Gretna Green before her former vicar's wife can ruin her reputation and chance at happiness. It runs right down to the wire. A cross country chase, a surprise father figure and true love are in the balance. You must read it.

Mr. Bundy and Lady Helen try to take their honeymoon
.....Only to be sabotaged by unforeseen circumstances! A familial pretender, one of Ethan's friends, and the friend's mother become unplanned and unwanted houseguests. The friend, Sir Aubrey, begins to fall in love with the pretender, who confesses why she claimed to be Bundy's sister. Feeling sorry for her, Aubrey tries to find out who her father was, only to be very surprised at the eventual discovery. This is one of those "madcap" romances, so not quite as charming as Book 1 (The Weaver Takes A Wife). Still, it's nice to continue Ethan and Helen's story, so a worthwhile read.

Love this story
This is another great book. I laughed so hard at Helen. She loves her weaver so much. He is such a good husband. This is their honeymoon are it's supposed to be. The ending was fabulous. A surprise lady says she is the weaver's sister but he knows she is lying. Aubrey comes in and says he will get rid of her. Lady Helen takes a liking to the sister. Oh no what's gonna happen. I wonderful love story. I felt like I was there with them all. What a great author Mrs Cobb is. Love all her books and I've bought them all.

The Honeymoon That Wasn't
While I really liked The Weaver Takes a Wife, I absolutely loved The Brighton Honeymoon. Actually, I just love the character development of Mr. Brundy. If it didn’t sound so ridiculous, I’d say I loved Mr. Brundy. This book was light, clever, witty and an entirely entertaining book.Mr. Brundy has beautifully managed to win his wife’s heart, but that’s just a prelude to this adorable story. Deeply in love, they plan a honeymoon to simply enjoy each other. Alas for them, they end up with guests. To watch Mr. Brundy thwarted at every turn is hilarious. He just wants to be alone with his bride, but ends up host to an unwanted young woman claiming to be his sister, his friend and worst of all, his friend’s outspoken mother who looks down her nose at her reluctant host. So, Mr. Brundy is definitely NOT enjoying this honeymoon. His actions and reactions are the highlight of this book. I loved his sarcastic, tongue-in-cheek responses and certainly felt his frustrations. I loved how he snatched every single moment he could get Helen alone. You just couldn't help rooting for him to have some privacy!!! While the budding romance between his friend and so-called sister was sweet, Mr. Brundy was the primary drawing card and I’m sorry to leave his world. Highly recommend!!!

Highly improbable
The story plot is highly unlikely and unbelievable. In some cases that would be fine, hey, I like Georgette Heyer and she's wildly improbable, but it's just not an engaging book. Sorry!

Charming romance - and a few laugh out loud moments
I was delighted to see that the Weaver Takes a Wife had a sequel. In many respects I felt it was a superior novel. Helen and Ethan are now happily married, and a new character, Polly, takes centre stage. Unlike Ethan's motivations in the first novel (which I found a tad unconvincing) Polly's motivations are understandable. Also her intelligence and verbal sparring with Sir Aubrey gave this novel some needed humour which was missing in the the first novel.

Humorous regency romance and the second in the series
Poor Mr Brundy! The frustration of unwanted house guests, particularly during ones honeymoon. Not to mention a strong minded wife.Another delightful regency romance from Ms Cobb South.
