Helped my dry eyes!
My ophthalmologist suggested trying ground flax seed to help with dry eyes. I tried two other organic ground flax seeds. Neither one helped as much as the Flax USA brand.I saw that others noted that this is cheaper at Costco compared to the Amazon Prime price. But I don't belong to Costco and loved buying it with one click.Tried to order it today, only to find out it has been dropped as an Amazon Prime item. Are you nuts? Why drop a Prime item rated so highly?Boooooo Amazon!Mar 4, 2013 update: I am very happy that this product is back and at the same price as before. For a few days it was back at a Prime price of about $16-18, which was really insane. I checked the price at Flax USA's website and they charge $12 for this item (plus shipping unless you buy a minimum amount). So, Amazon, if you get this wholesale, why do you jack up the price except to bundle in the shipping to us Prime members? Tsk, tsk, tsk.Oct 28, 2013 update: Once again you have jacked up the price. It was $13.58 the last time I bought it and it is still $12.00 directly from Flax USA, the manufacturer. This is not the way to make up your 3rd quarter loss.

Always get cold milled! Great for keto/low carb/atkins dieters
I bought this at Costco years ago and would use it occasionally as a mix in for my yogurt (they were demonstrating that way and were selling it as a fiber supplement). Then my boyfriend went on the keto diet. And he now uses this stuff like crazy since he can't eat bread. He has recipes for muffins, pizzas, and so on...I have to admit the chocolate muffins really ARE awesome (stevia, cocoa powder, flax, egg, butter to avoid carbs) even though I am not on a low carb diet and have no such restrictions. So it's awesome stuff...very good for you too if you need extra fiber. To clarify it does have carbs but almost all of it is indigestible fiber so most diets don't count it. (It does also have calories...that's mostly from the flax oil)However, you MUST buy cold milled if you're planning on storing it long term and not refrigerating. As I said, the first package I had of this lasted years. Cold milled is milled so that the flax doesn't heat up as it's ground. This is important because otherwise the oils break down and it will spoil in a few weeks. Cold milled has a MUCH longer shelf life.Flax USA tastes great, stays good, and at this size is a good deal.

Flax USA Flaxseed...I have had better
This flaxseed is not entirely a disappointment but i have had some issues with a few things regarding it. First off what you buy is what you get, and at a pretty decent price i figured why not? I got it for $13.49, when comparing it to retail store prices, where I shop 20 ounces usually goes for the same price. My first issue is the resealable bag that the seed comes in. A few earlier reviewers have pointed this out and they are right on par. As hard a i try to line up the seal, and press real hard it does not stay closed. Just when i think, "i finally got it" and walk away, ill come back an hour or two later to find the bag opened. This is a huge issue for me considering i keep my flax in the basement, where it is all the more likely to get bugs or whatever in it. Another issue for me is the degree to which the flax is ground. It seems as though this flaxseed is ground down a lot finer than flaxseed i have purchased in the past. I personally do not prefer this and may never have bought the product in the first place if it was accurately described. In my opinion there are better flaxseed products out there. In the past I have purchased 1 pound bags of unground flaxseed for $1 each and just ground it myself. I might be going back to my old ways after this bag is finished.

Had a problem but Flax USA made it right!!
The package says they have a special way to grind the flax seeds for improved shelf life. Well mine arrived with an expiration date in 2014 but smell rotten already. I've been adding flax seed to my morning cereal every day for over a year so I've tried a few different brands and none have had this strong odor. I called the number on the bag to see if this was normal for this brand of flax seed. The lady made me feel silly to be calling and asking such a dumb question but after I read off the expiration date and lot number she said "Don't eat it!" and that she would call me back. I'll update later if I hear from her.Update-- she called back after a few days and sent out a replacement. I just opened the package and it smells normal. I guess I just got a bag from a bad batch the first time. Based on previous reviews this must not happen often.

Good Stuff!
Certainly it agrees with all manners of smoothies. Adds a particular taste to the concoctions that everyone in the house enjoys. Together with others like Chia, Hemp, seem to add a third dimension to fruits and vegetables smoothies. With the powerful assistance of a Vita Mix 750, it all becomes, fresh and frozen, a perfect blend of silky smooth creations (the sky is the limit), so I have to give FLAX USA a whole hearted seal of approval, and yes, I am considering that the flax is already grounded, but this one arrived with that delicious smell of fresh flax, no bitterness or deterrents. Certainly expensive if you are planning visiting Costco any time soon. Still, the bell rings and the box arrives (Amazon makes so so easy, is addictive!). 4.5 Stars!

Excellent product, with one exception.
The ground golden flax seed from Amazon is comparable to other similar products on the market, however the price at Amazon is superior or cheaper than its competitors, although it is a fact that other reviews have accurately revealed that once the package is opened, it will not be possible to reseal it since there is obviously some sort of defect in the manufacturing process of the package. I bought 2 bags and both of them were unsealable. I conquered what I considered to be a minor issue by storing the product in its original container using a clasp to seal it, and placing it into another container that can be easily sealed to retain the freshness of the flaxseed. Now I basically have double protection of the product.
