It's like magic! I rarely give reviews on products I buy, but I am SO immediately impressed and happy with this one, I had to stop to give a BIG THUMBS UP for this NATURAL root concealer! As a naturalist, I am very happy to find a product I can feel good about having on my hair and scalp while also very effectively covering new semi-grey growth between my (natural) colorings. The best way I have found to touch up my grey hair is to first use men's hair color. Then, as the grey starts to show, I use a men's shaving brush to gently dab the powder and rub into the hair and scalp. I use a handheld mirror as I tilt my head backwards toward my bathroom mirror to prevent power from getting on my shoulders or neck, and rub the shaving brush with powder on the grey areas. Powder also gives me extra-thick hair and more time in-between hair washing. Be careful as it won't come off clothes. The best product I've found to wash it out of my T-shirt or shirt collar is "LA's Totally Awesome all purpose concentrated cleaner" from Home Depot. It's not perfect and you'll need to experiment with soaking or washing full-strength or diluted. I'm careful and do like the results of the powder. It also gets onto my pillow cases. Silk pillowcases help. Bleach is useless. It can also get under your fingernails, so always ask someone else to scratch your head, LOL. Good luck.

The product I've been waiting for! My hair grows fast and the cut I favor is pretty basic, so I have visible gray/brown roots for a month to six weeks before I Need another haircut and color. The Pure Mineral Root Concealer allows me to touch up my roots and gain that extra time between salon appointments with confidence.I like that everything is organic. I like that now I can postpone the salon color process which is definitely not organic. Best yet, application is a snap. The container has a perforated clear plastic insert so you just shake it or tap it against the counter and the just right amount comes through to swipe onto the applicator brush. Without that plastic barrier it would be way too easy to spill the powder. At first I thought the brush tip was too small, but I soon realized it was the perfect size to control the application. It helps to hold up a hand mirror so you can see the crown of your head. Brushing your hair afterward from the roots blends the color but doesn't brush it out.The color I ordered--If I remember correctly, brown was the only option for my color range--is a good match for my medium to light brown hair with highlights, but it does contain the slightest reddish tint. The color is pretty true to the picture. The reddish tinge was only apparent at the part on my scalp. It was easy to blend it in with a few longer brush strokes of the powder on either side of the part and maybe one or two in my bangs. Like adding low-lights.The color stays in place between shampoos; in my case that's every fourth day. It does not look powdery at all. It did not rub off on my fingers. This is just a guesstimate, but it looks like I'll get dozens of uses from this $15 purchase and save 25% on my yearly salon bills. All in all, except for wanting more color choices, I am totally satisfied with this purchase and will buy again.

Messy container, ends up with lots of black mini-spots all over face. Hard to imagine what a face looks like if you were using this to cover graying roots or thinning patches of scalp hair. Maybe if you used this first, then a Neutrogena makeup remover cloth before trying to put on more makeup. Hard to say since I did not use it on my scalp.. seemed to stay intact for 24 hours without coming off on a white pillowcase, but again used only on brows.This may take some experimenting to get right. Since it comes in black, where Joan River’s “Great Hair Day” darkest color is a brown and the price is a relative bargain, this is definitely worth trying.

The good news is that stuff works amazingly well. It goes on quickly, easily and looks magnificently natural. The bad news is I immediately felt short of breath after applying. I checked out the ingredients, and they looked innocent enough - mica, iron oxides and zinc. However, as my shortness of breath persisted, I Googled the ingredients. Here's what Lord Google has to say: Repeated exposure to Iron Oxide fume or dust can cause pneumoconiosis (Siderosis) with cough, shortness of breath and changes on chest x-ray. AND Mica can affect you when breathed in. * Repeated high exposure to the dust can irritate the lungs and may cause lung scarring (fibrosis). This causes an abnormal chest x-ray, cough and shortness of breath.
