They're exactly as pictured, although slightly smaller than expected. I was slightly dubious about buying these as most reviews for similar items said they're flimsy and don't stand up well. I took the plunge anyway, but unfortunately my suspicions came true. The base is well carved & painted, with smooth edges, but it is so light that when you clip in an A5 sheet (wedding table names) it becomes so top heavy, a slight gust would knock it over. Top tip though...a 2 pence blu-tacked to the underside works wonders to provide some balance!

Just what I needed for labelling a buffet but one was broken hence the 4 stars.
