This is such a great book! I highly recommend it as a tool for teaching children about nature and geography or for children who enjoy adventure stories. The book follows Minn, a three legged snapping turtle, as she travels along the Mississippi River encountering many experiences along the way.

Minn of the Mississippi, _a baby turtle -- as well as A Tree in the Trail - and Journey to the Sea are all wonderful books. We read them to our daughter as bedtime stories -- second or third grade (each probably a week to get through) Educational - as per critters, grography and history of the USA. How can one not enjoy learning how a small indian crafted boat (one foot long) finds its own way down to the sea on its own -- The great lakes connect - he even goes over Niagra Falls - for example
