I don't have much experience with Maca but a friend of mine raved about it so me and my husband decided to give it a try. I was much more interested in the mood enhancing effects than the libido stuff that Arrested Development has made maca famous for! The science behind this is interesting and people don't actually understand HOW it works on the libido as it doesn't work on hormones directly but it does pan out in studies.I liked this supplement to try maca because I was impressed by the quality and the brand. It was cool that they decided to mix 3 different kinds of maca, most maca supplements only have one and they have different qualities. In addition apparently the company works directly with the source in Peru, the capsules are vegan and there are NO fillers. I take so many supplements and it just sucks how many of them have fillers so I always give companies props for this. Their whole approach to this supplement seems intentional and stands out versus other Maca supplements or supplement sellers on amazon (and I review a lot of supplements!)That being said, neither I nor my husband noticed any effect from it, mood or libido wise. I'm finishing the bottle off as it's healthy for you but I'm not sure if I'm a maca responder. I don't think there's anything wrong with the supplement though and I don't have a strong response to many supplements that I take, but my husband can often feel supplements more strongly. This was just our personal experience though so I'm sure that people who respond better to maca will see the effects of this.

I've been taking maca for a long time, and I've tried quite a few brands. This is pretty good stuff. I broke open a capsule to taste it, and it tastes reasonably fresh and potent and maca-y. I'm always a little suspicious of capsules, as there is the potential to hide inferior ingredients. This is good, and I appreciate that it's organic. I'm not sure what difference the alleged different color maca's really makes. I think it might just be for marketing. In any case these are priced okay compared to other products on the market, although bulk maca still wins on price. If you don't like the flavor, capsules like this by the way to go.

The USDA Organic and CCOF (another official body that certifies organic status) are comforting certifications, noting the safe origins of the organic ingredients. And while the Supplement Facts only notes Organic Gelatinized Maca, at 500mg/capsule, they do state that the "Ingredients: Certified Organic Black, Red and Yellow Maca". Following label laws, it's interesting that they list them in that order, which would indicate quantities in descending quantities: Black, Red and then Yellow. I appreciate that they do state all three in their ingredients listing.I consume maca (usually the yellow variety) every morning. I use bulk powder, and mix it in morning coffee. When you're not home, having maca in a capsule form is incredibly convenient. Also, if you are new to maca, and just want a capsule for quick, easy consumption, this form is perfect.I've used this company's bulk powder version of maca, earning favorable impressions. This capsule form carries on their quality product reputation. This maca supplement earns a 4.75 - 5 star rating, with a very high level recommendation.

Maca is part of my testosterone maintenance regimen. I've noticed a trend among these types of supplements to mix them with something else, often adding some toxin such as sugar. This Karen Berrios maca powder is 100% maca. It's produced from heirloom varieties, which is another big plus. Each capsule provides 1000mg, a dosage that I consider to be about right. The capsules are thus appropriately sized and easy to swallow.The company is serious about following ethical practices, making me wonder if perhaps they have a time machine. :) That's because these days that "old school" way is (sadly) kind of rare. The fact they have that way is also a big plus when considering whether to buy their product or that of a competitor.Their focus on ethical standards gives me confidence I am actually getting 1000mg of maca per capsule. Several investigations into "economy brand" supplement labels have found issues such as silica being mixed into the powder to get the stated weight without spending as much on the actual supplement. The aforementioned sugar is also used for this purpose.While I lack the means to directly test the efficacy of this supplement in a scientific (double blind) manner, everything I can find to read about it is two thumbs up.
