Great dictionary
My daughter asked for a Pashto - English dictionary for her birthday. I went to school to study Pashto while serving in the military and have taught my kids basic phrases. She refuses to learn a second language other than Pashto now. This is the same dictionary I used a decade ago. Still great quality. She loves it.

Fills a huge domestic U.S. void in intercultural communication.
Easy to use and quite useful but also very much reflects its military origins given the type of phrases and questions used in the example translations.

Quick and Ready Pashto
This is a quick and ready phrase book to get one by in Pashto. It has about a hundred page dictionary which covers many common words. There are brief chapters on etiquette, introductions ( to people ), the airport, and others. The book measures 3.75 X 7 X 0.75 inches making it easy to put into a pocket or a purse. Not a book for the formal learning of Pashto, that could only be done in a class room.Overall I am well pleased with this book and will soon be using it as a Pashto guest is about to arrive!

Includes both Pakistani and Afghani dialects!
When shopping for a Pushtu dictionary/introduction, I was specifically looking for a reference that includes the Pakistani dialect of Pushtu, rather than just the Afghani dialect often found in other books. I’m happy to report that this dictionary includes the distinctions between the Pakistani and Afghani dialects within the definitions in which they differ. 5 stars

Decent Phrasebook for anyone who needs it
This book has many of the necessary phrases covered. As you will find in Pashto speaking areas, the language differs greatly from one area or another. You may find that using a phrase in this book will work in one village, but in another you will only get blank stares. The best thing to do is use this book and cross-reference with a translator. You will find that you can get a good grasp on the phrases and then fine tune your ability to use them with correct local phrases.

good stuff
Has alot of words and phrases in here to help you get your point across. The alphabet is in here to, its a great reference for me and I carry it everyday here in Afghanistan . Would recommend this to anyone deployed or trying to learn normal phrases.

As good as it gets
This is the only phonetic pashto to english book that I was able to find. It is easy to use and has alot of great terms, but is definitely lacking as it seems geared more towards english speakers traveling in pashto-speaking places. I needed it to help talk to pashto-speaking refugees who are here in the U.S. needing assistance, so there are alot of words and phrases that just arent found in the book. Oh well!

Not very accurate.
I bought this book to go along with a military language training program. I am deploying to Afghanistan and was selected to learn pashto before the tour. Throughout my weeks of class we found that this book was highly inaccurate in translation and a large amount of this book is actually Dari not pashto. However there aren't many pashto English dictionaries out there so you have to take what you can get.
