Be careful threading it in!
Finally got around to replacing the anode rod in my Rheem gas water heater. Old one came out pretty easy with a simple breaker bar and the included socket (my cordless impact couldn’t break it). I ended up cutting the last section of the new rod off as it bottomed out in the tank, but I ran into a problem threading it in.The space for the socket to fit around the head of the rod was very tight and impossible to start threading by hand. I tried just using the socket and my hand and thought I got a good thread, so (and here is where I screwed up) I reached for the impact and ugga dugga’d it a few times and then sent it. I didn’t have a good thread and marred up the threads on the tank and new rod. I ran to the hardware store for a 3/4” 14 NPT tap and was able to tap the threads and get the new rod seated and threaded in. No leaks! Smell seems to have gone away, but I am pretty nose blind to it at this point. Waiting for a visitor to see what their nose says.Great product! Just be careful and ALWAYS use hand tools when reinstalling.

Easy to replace
I replaced the 10 years old rod from my water heater with this since i have a limited room on the top. It was easy to replace and now there is no sulfer smell when we operate the faucets in the house.

Magic!
Since we moved into our house and put in a new water heater, our hot water stinks up the whole house! It smells like rotten eggs, very hard to want to shower in or wash clothing in. I did some research and tried this anode rod, hoping it would actually work, but just a little more that doubtful. My husband drained the tank, took out the old rod and replaced it, filled the tank and as soon as the water heated up... No stink! It was instant and oh so nice to have non stinky water. Suffice it to say it was worth the cost and the effort.

Fits Rheem Performance H2O heater
The time had come to check/replace my hot water heater anode. I wasn't particularly wanting a flexible water heater anode, but I did need an aluminum one. This was the only aluminum one in stock when I was buying. I am so glad it turned out that way as it turns out I would not have had room to install a new solid rod. I had to cut my old anode in half in order to fully remove it. This flexible on went in easily since it was able to be inserted section by section. Bit of advice if it is you first time replacing your anode, use an impact gun to get the old one out. They evidently hire gorillas to tighten the original factory ones.

Impact!!!
Product worked great. We’re very, very happy and the price was right. Two things, though.First, get your hands on an impact driver. This was a job at the cottage and I didn’t have my impact driver. I bought a 32” breaker bar, 1/2” drive. All I managed to do was move my water heater around and begin to strip the edges off the top of the anode rod. Drove home and got my impact wrench. Zip-zip and it was done.Second, the 1-1/16” socket that comes with the anode is not a deep well socket. The top of the anode was several inches inside of the water heater. The deep well socket I purchased perfectly fit in the hole.
