Didn't realize it was so small. In additional the swatches are big enough so not a lot of examples per page. Pretty limited palette used. So really this is for beginners - no complex or exotic colors here.

Not a very good reference.

Is a nice concise book with the "right" level of detail for my needs. My one concern is that there are places where Ms. Collins moves from mixing say, a warm yellow over and over with different other colors - - then suddenly a single cool yellow will appear mixed in the middle of a grouping of warms. The compulsive, ex-accountant in me says that this lack of complete order "is wrong." (Watch the descriptions/details.)

I bought this with the understanding it would provide color recipes for oil and acrylic colors, but no, I can only find watercolor recipes.

Its very helpful to understand color mixing.

Lots of charts featuring mixing as expected. Restricted to 13 named pigments so to use the charts you need to buy them-or make similar charts using what you already have. It would have been useful to show other possible palettes as not all pigments mix well - eg as all primaries lean to one or the other primary you can end up with a muddy secondary containing all 3 primaries instead of a clearer secondary containing only 2.

Good, clear, and well laid out. It's essentially just a load of colour charts (well, what would you expect?!) but there are a few interesting side articles about things such as how colours change with distance, how they look next to each other, and so on. A useful guide, and as a relative beginner I found it very helpful.

I had something similar but seem to have mislaid it, and it is out of print. This book is similar and is very useful for beginners and experienced watercolourists alike
