What you see, it's not what you get.
The bread's picture shown at the book cover, is only to catch the attention of the reader, is not part of the content of the book. The baguette's photo obtained for real inside the book differs hugely from the one shown at the book cover. It seems a sales trick from the publisher.

Great variety with a good amount of pictures
**I received a free copy of this book through a "Goodreads First Reads" giveaway.**First of all, I must say I love bread!! I have several cookbooks and my bread-maker is probably the most used appliance in my kitchen. That said, I like this bread cookbook and think it offers a great variety with a good amount of pictures. So far I have made and enjoyed a variety of items:Fresh Strawberry Scones (pg 78)Cheesy Bacon Muffins (pg 93)Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread (pg 132)Fresh Herb Bread (pg 140)Pretzels (pg 114)Iced Raisin Loaf (pg 88)

great book for the beginner or experienced bread maker
Excellent book, begins with the chemistry of breadmaking then follows with many recipes for different types of bread including sweet doughs, everyday breads and festive yeast recipes, such as stollen and panetonne. Every recipe tells you how to adapt for hand baking or bread machine.

This is like half a book.
These recipes are okay, but a major issue is that each recipe has absolutely no description of the final product, so unless there is a photo, you have no way of knowing at all what you are aiming at. I am an experienced baker and I was google searching things to see what it was I was going for as one of the things about bread and baking is that it is as much about what the shape of your final product is. It isn't a baguette if it isn't long and thin. And some of these recipes are so specific at least a description paragraph would have been a help. I didn't need a picture of pizza; Irish Barm Brack could have used one though, as I have read through the recipe a few times now and still have no idea what it's about. This is like half a book. It's like a book for people who like the IDEA of baking bread but will never actually do it. For those of us who bake for a living and wanted some inspiration it was a frustrating mess.
