It was Good, but not as Good as the Novel
First I would like to say this manga is an "adaption" to the first Vampire Hunter D novel. It's not excately like the novel. It bit different. For me it seem to be a mixture of the novel and the movie. It was good, but not as good as the novels. There was some parts that I got lost on. As the part with the satittle looking down on earth from space. That didn't make sense to me. D in the manga isn't like the D compeletly like in the novel or the movie. He doesn't deny himself blood or himself, but manga shows that annoying hatrad of his vampire side just like in the movies. I was little disapointed that the manga didn't show the scarastic humor that D has. I hope it shows more in the up-coming mangas. I miss seeing D's wicked grin when Doris says to him he could sleep with her if he wanted too. But I was happy to see that manga shows, he wouldn't say no, if a woman wanted to sleep with him. I was so happy for that. Because I was really afarid D was going to be like the D in the movies. Which isn't the D in the novels. The D in the novel is much cooler. As I said it was good, but not as good as the novel. But I am still planing on buying the second manga.

D Never Disappoints
But the format for this does. Please, please fix the digital layout. It looks atrocious and makes everything so hard to read. Having to zoom in for every single panel killed the flow of reading the story. That being said, the story and artwork were amazing! I've loved Vampire Hunter D since I was a child, it was my first encounter with late night anime. So it was the first graphic novel I sought out when I purchased my Kindle Fire.In a post apocalyptic world where beings have mutated into various creatures of the night, humans have become the weaker species. Ghouls, were creatures, and even vampires have dominated the human race into fear and submission. Humanities answer back to such forces were the vampire hunters, the legendary D being the greatest of all of them. Being a Dhampir, a human and vampire cross breed, gives D the edge and doing what he knows best, obliterating evil and defending the weak and innocent. Toss in some weird stuff and oversized chests for variety and D is ready to rock.

Love these stories! Own this on KindleFire
I love all of the Vampire Hunter D anime series. The illustration is amazing quality and the story boards are equally entertaining. The story line isn't skimpy either, unlike other anime books that I have found, this one actual has a story. My only down fall on these is that the font is too tiny to read. I end up having to blow up the page to try and ready the font-which just makes things worst by distorting and pixelating the page. I wish that this series would update their books to the panel by panel option, where it shows you an enlarged sceen shot of each panel in sequence. This makes the words appear clear and legible, plus it makes the reading experience go smoother. I do love reading these stories over and over again, but the small font makes it real tedious to do so.

Pretty good adaptation
This manga is a pretty good adaptation of the book, all things considered. It was more inclusive (and accurate) than the movie, I think. Really my biggest issues are these: I'm not crazy about this particular artist's style (everyone looks sleep deprived to me), and the digital version gets a bit pixelated when you zoom in. I would also have loved it in color, because it would have helped me better figure out what was going on in the some of the more chaotic panels, but that's purely preference. Overall, I liked it.

Blurry Images
The book was all there but the quality of the kindle copy is blurry and terrible. You can even see the pixels when you're reading. A lot of the sound effects are so blurry that you can't even make it out. Even pirating manga sites have better quality than this. This is very discouraging. I try to support authors by buying their stuff but with this kind of quality work, I feel that this would turn people away from supporting the creators they love. I also hate when I enlargen images, I have to close the image in order to move on to the next page.

Great Series
D is probably one of the best series of anything ever created. After reading the books and watching the movies, I was quite impressed with how well the manga followed suit. Honestly, my only problem is the formatting on the Kindle.

Nice quick read
It is Vampire Hunter D, only in manga form. It tells the tale of the first novel in a quick concise format, suitable for those who want a quick D fix.Artwork was well done, and captured the images conjured up in the novel.
