Can you bake this and make your own bird bread?

Technically you could but you would need other additional items like egg, baking powder, oil etc. This is mainly a powder formula for conversion resistant birds or bird owners who do not want to go thru the trouble of a diet conversion from seeds to nuggets.

Any tips on how to convert a stubborn parakeet to this?

You can sprinkle the powdered mash it on a moist seed treat. Someone else said they add the mash to a heart healthy pancake mix and make pancakes for the birds as a treat. The latter option wouldn't technically convert a bird to the pellets, but it would be a way to add extra nutrition to a bird's diet. In regards to another person's comment, it is definitely worth paying the price for this brand of pellets because it's extremely healthy. I am on a limited income, so I buy a pound of Harrison's fine grind Adult Formula pellets and offer my six birds the pellets a couple of times a week as a treat. They love it, and a pound lasts about 3 months for 6 birds ranging in size from a budgie to a cockatoo. If a bird has difficulty accepting Harrison's, then I'd recommend trying a different pelleted bird food like Zupreme fruit blend. Pellets offer complete nutrition to birds and help prevent health problems (fewer vet bills), and help them live long lives. My oldest birds, for example, are 26, 23 and 21. I've had them since they were babies, and they have been on pellets and since they were weaned.

Is there a difference in look or texture or consistency between this and the high potency mash?

There's not a difference in texture or consistency between this and the high potency mash. However, there's a slight color difference between the two because the high potency mash is richer in calories and nutrients that are geared toward young birds (under 1 year) who are just being weaned. High potency mash or pellets can also be used for sick birds at any age. I've used it as a "treat" for my green cheek conures because one of them has a hard time keeping his weight up to where it needs to be.

35+ years on this diet

Our parrot has been on this food for over 35 years and he is in perfect health. He loves these pellets plus his fresh fruits and veggies.

Good nutrition and loved by my picky cockatiel!

Got it on time! I'm not new to this, but so you know it's a great brand for parrots, I did lots of hardcore reading and picked Harrisons with it being the most repeated brand with authors often advising more than one brand. (Like it'd be A or Harrisons. B, C, or Harrisons...) It later came to be the only brand my gal's vet sells (just out of the super fine).

Picky Cockatiel Approved!

I have been trying to switch my seed fiend of a cockatiel from his all seed diet on and off for about a year. I’ve bought him 2 other brands prior to Harrison’s, and he would flat out refuse to eat them and would throw them onto the floor no matter what method I tried to give them to him. I am on day three of mainly giving him pellets, and have only been giving him a certain amount of time daily to access his seed bowl. Shockingly, even when he has access to seeds he still chooses to eat the pellets. I am just really happy that he has found a pellet that he enjoys.

Daily part of my birdies diet!

I have 2 lovebirds who are absolutely in love with stuff! It took them a second to adjust to the pellets from being dependent on seeds their whole lives but the switch was very hassle free and surprisingly quick. I've been mixing this in their their veggie chop and it is always GONE within hours. My babies are always so energetic, healthy, and happy. I feed these to them guilt free of any harmful side effects. I'm on my 2nd bag in a month! Highly highly recommend!!!

Excellent food. Birds love it. One problem...

My vet recommended my birds eat this food. They both took to it right away. My only complaint is that the last time I received it, there was about an inch deep of crumbled pellets, just about dust, that my birds of course won't eat. I don't know what happened to this bag, but it's too expensive to have a bunch of worthless dust in the bottom of the bag.

I was advised to give this to my African Grey after he was very poorly. We had to change his diet completely. We were also told it would be a long process to switch him from seed to pellets. It took a week! My parrot loves these pellets and they're full of everything he needs.
