Mastic is fantastic, read my story about h.pylori
I'm giving this 5 stars simply because it worked with no ill side effects. Let me explain further. One evening after work I came home and took a nap, after I awoke from my nap I noticed I felt rather burpy and bloated. I belched and tasted the Chinese food from about 8 hours prior to the nap. This is really rare for me but I didn't think much of it. Less than an hour later I had a pretty awful bout of diarrhea. Thought to myself "welp, I'll stay away from Chinese food for awhile..." Well the diarrhea lasted for 2 weeks and I finally decided to go to the doctor. We all know how that goes...He gave some nausea medicine and sent me on my way. Week 3: Still have diarrhea, at this point it was just water. Quite frankly, it felt if I were urinating out of my rear-end. By now im suffering from major fatigue, bloat, gas, squirts and on and off fever with chills. So I said the hell with it..I'm going to the Emergency room. There I was put on an IV, they took blood and I also gave a stool sample. They tested my stool for blood, that came back negative. Blood results came back good and my stool sample didn't show signs of any of the major bacteria, infections (c.diff, etc). I was prescribed some imodium chewables (which I didn't take). I took it upon myself to order a blood test for H.pylori antigens. Normal results for IgM pylori antigens is between 0.0-8.0 and mine came back at >35.0. Given that I had never had these types of symptoms before I made a self assessment and decided that it was fair to say that I had made the "infection connection". Thus begun my journey to rid myself of h.pylori with natural remedies instead of the normal tipple therapy that a doctor would have prescribed. For 1 week I took grape seed extract, turmeric, garlic oil, cranberry extract and 2 psyllium husks everyday. I also drank 250ml of cranberry cocktail everyday. Week 4: A lot of my symptoms had started to wane, but I was still experiencing occasional diarrhea. I logged onto amazon and placed an order for Jarrow Formulas Mastic Gum and Align: Probiotic supplement. I stopped taking everything except those two products. Within a few days I noticed a great improvement. I started with 1 mastic on an empty stomach in the morning, probiotic at lunch and 1 mastic before I went to bed. Week 5: By this time now I'm defecating 1-2 times a day (solid) and I have little to no fatigue. 1 mastic in the morning 30 minutes before eating, probiotic after lunch, 2 more mastic gum at night (500mg each) Week 6: I feel pretty much back to normal, I'm going to finish the entire bottle of mastic gum. 1-2 mastic in morning, probiotic after lunch, 1-2 mastic before bed. I have yet to go to the doctor again and share with them my pylori antigen results. I would have to give another stool sample in order to determine if the pylori is out of my symptom since blood test cant really distinguish between past or present anti bodies. Simply put, this product, in conjunction with the other treatments seems to have worked or is working well enough that I'm not experiencing any of the prior symptoms. Until then I will stand by my 5/5 rating. If you have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me here.

Worked great for H. Pylori
I purchased this to treat an H. Pylori infection. My symptoms were "EXCESSIVE" (I cannot emphasize that word enough) burping, searing pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, sinus problems (never before had in my life) and an overall feeling of being VERY unwell. Acid reflux was NOT a symptom for me although I know it is for many. After someone suggested I might have H. Pylori, I began doing research. I was not able to be tested for the bacteria because I had just come off of a round of antibiotics (first time in 18 years) for a horrible sinus infection (first one ever). The test would have thrown a false negative because of the antibiotics, you're supposed to wait a month after taking them. Since there was no way in H*** I was going the conventional route for the H. Pylori treatment I decided to go ahead and start the Mastic Gum. There was also no way in H*** I was going to wait a month to be tested before doing anything, with the symptoms already being as bad as they were. I went with my instinct and started my own protocol. Within 3 days the searing pain in my upper abdomen was completely gone and I was beginning to feel better. Over the course of the next three weeks I continued to improve and at this time all symptoms are gone. I am continuing with my protocol for a while longer because I'm not taking any chances on not getting it all. After doing the research, this is what I did with the Mastic Gum. Week 1 - 1000 mg. divided into two dosages on an empty stomach, Week 2 - 2000 mg. divided into two dosages on an empty stomach, Week 3 - 3000 mg. divided into three dosages, morning, afternoon and evening, on an empty stomach. In addition to the Mastic gum I also took NAC (N-Acetyl L-Cysteine) because a friend discovered the following article... Gastritis, Ulcers, Cancer, and Helicobacter pylori Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that colonizes various regions of the stomach and upper part of the small intestine. H. pylori infection produces major oxidative stress on tissues already vulnerable to extremes of pH and other chemical challenges, and the resulting inflammation produces pain and promotes development of gastric and esophageal cancers.19 NAC is an obvious candidate for fighting H. pylori infections, both because of its powerful ability to interfere with the oxidant-inflammation connection, and also because of its potential to break down some of the gastric mucous layer beneath which the organism hides.72 NAC fights H. pylori in at least two ways. It markedly inhibits growth of H. pylori both in culture dishes and in live mice, helping to reduce the total load of organisms present.72 But NAC also powerfully regulates gene expression in stomach lining cells, reducing hydrogen peroxide production induced by H. pylori, and decreasing activation of NF-kB and subsequent release of inflammatory cytokines.19,73 In human trials NAC improves eradication rates of H. pylori produced by standard treatment with antacids and antibiotics, when given at doses of 1,200 mg per day.74,75 People who have gastritis or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) may be infected with H. pylori and may benefit from supplementation with 1,200 mg per day of NAC, especially during co-treatment with drugs to eradicate the organism. I'm also drinking Matula Tea which is an herbal blend proven to eradicate H. Pylori as well as other parasites one might have. It's very expensive but comes with a money back guarantee (you do have to get tested after you finish the treatment) if you still test positive for the bacteria. It's very mild, tastes like a green tea. I just started the tea two days ago, you drink the tea twice daily for 30 days. This may be overkill, but as badly as I've felt for the past several weeks, I'm taking NO chances! This is what I've done and has worked great for me, I've completely followed my instincts through all my choices here. Best of health to ALL!

! ! MIRACLE ! !
I have had awful GI issues for years. Numerous trips to multiple doctors. Countless tests run. Wasted money. I finally gave up on Western medicine and decided to focus full force on natural, Eastern care. I tried many approaches with lots of great little changes but not the big life altering change I so badly needed. One night I came across mastic gum in my research and decided to give it a try. It was cheap and had no negative side effects. Worth a try. I immediately began taking one pill morning and night on an empty stomach (though this can cause stomach upset in some and they recommend easing into, first with one pill every other day, then one pill every day, then finally two a day. But it is very important to take it on an empty stomach.) BAM my life changed! Within two months I was back to the healthy GI system I had years ago. No more painful bloat that felt like I was a character in Aliens. No more constant IBS-C and sudden attacks of IBS-D. No more ulcer flair ups from one alcoholic beverage. No more avoiding gluten. No more uniquenchable thirst. No more stressing over candida or bacteria overgrowths wageing war. No more sleepless nights. No more lethargic, energy drained days. My overall physical and psychological health improved leaps and bounds. After all, the majority of your immune system resides in your guts and science has proven a body-mind connection. After two bottles I stopped taking mastic gum and did fine for a few months. I later began having a few mild symptoms here and there, though nothing like before. I decided to reorder and now take a one pill maintenance dose every other day and have been doing great ever since. I would give this product 10 stars if I could. It gave me my life back. Take mastic gum. Drink a gallon of clean water a day. Eat organic dark greens and berries. Take a good probiotic. Exercise and expel once a day. You'll soon find yourself better than ever. I promise.

Dealing with H Pylori, gastritis, heartburn, ulcers and Gerd
I got diagnosed with gastritis and H Pylori back in early July 2012. I took the 22 pills a day (no joke) that the doctors prescribed for me which landed me in the ER due to averse reactions to the cocktail of drugs. That was a nightmare to say the least. After I barely recovered from that which was about a month, I was in immense pain in my stomach. I had burning, gnawing, nausea, heartburn, very difficult for me to swallow and I lost 12 lbs. I couldn't eat and actually had to have liquids only for 9 days. I then went on my own search on the internet for alternative therapies for my condition. I came across the words "Mastic Gum" and how it helps with stomach issues and has been known to kill the h pylori which is responsible for causing stomach ulcers. I also bought several other items to help my stomach. I think it's the combo of natural remedies that are helping me get well. I have to say that mastic gum has a nice flavor and it doesn't bother my stomach at all. I think it's just good to know that it's helping me. I remember reading all the reviews that other people had written about the product and that gave me encouragement. I have only been taking it for 32 days now... I will re test for h pylori after taking it along with other products in 4 more weeks from now. My ulcers seem to have calmed down a bit. I have been eating home made vegetable soups, avocados, yams and a few other mellow foods for the past 6 weeks. The bacteria (H Pylori) feeds off of dairy, breads, sugars and gluten. I have stayed away from all of that until I know that I have eradicated this bug. It's been a challenging time for my health the past 4 months. I also wen to into despair, a bit of sadness, worry and hopelessness. I am looking forward to feeling great! Hope this review helps others that are in search of a natural remedy for whatever ails them. Oh by the way I have bought 5 bottles of the mastic gum so far. I take 2 pills (500 mg each) in the am on empty stomach and I take 2 pills (500 mg each) in the pm on a empty stomach before bed. That's a total of 2,000 mg per day. Blessings, K

Severe pain
I was diagnosed with h pylori and had little to no symptoms so I decided to go take a more natural approach to get rid of it. I take a lot of supplements because of other problems I have, and I have been taking them for a while without problem. After takin mastic gum for about 3 days I started feeling a lot of stomach pain, dizziness, headaches and vomit. Had to go to the doctor because I thought I had an infection but I didn’t. My symptoms got worst each day and I decided to stop taking all my supplements to not upset my stomach. The pain was so bad I had to go to the gi doctor and they put me gastritis treatment. After a few days I started to feel better and started taking my supplements without problem, and since I never thought mastic gum was the problem I decided to start taking it again yesterday and the horrible stomach paim, dizziness and headaches came back. I don’t think it’s worth all the pain and discomfort that comes from this pills to get rid of h pylori, I was literally in bed for a couple of days, and now that I think back I had no changes in my diet except for adding mastic gum! Be very careful when buying pills online, you don’t really know what they contain since they’re not regulated

This stuff works!
OMG! This stuff works! It all started with "the burps," which progressed over the weeks to cramping pain, then sharp pain. The pain would kick in about 3:30 a.m. and keep me up the rest of the night. I never felt any "burning", just pain, like I swallowed a cactus and like it was spinning around in my lower throat. I went to the doc and was told that I had a "bit of acid reflux" and put on Prilosec, for one week, which did not help. After one week of waking up in the middle of the night, with severe stomach pain, and getting an average of 4 hours of total sleep per night, I ordered this. I took it as soon as it arrived in the mail. I felt a muffled "boosh" in my stomach and had, as another customer mentioned, resin-tasting burps for hours. However, after it all quieted down, I slept through the night! I am by no means cured yet, but I feel a whole lot better. It's hard to be sane, patient, and nice when one can't sleep. Before it arrived, I was also taking something called "Amish cure" which is an apple-cider vinegar-ginger-garlic tonic. While it did help, it would wear off in two hours. I really believe the mastic gum helps significantly. Our mom was diagnosed with ulcers back in the 80's, before medical science knew that H. pylori causes ulcers. She has been on acid reducers for decades. We don't smoke, drink, or drink caffeine, but now all the adult children have to take acid reducers. I believe that we are all infected with H. pylori. I don't want to live on acid reducers for the rest of my life because then I can't digest my food properly, and stomach acid is the first line of defense for germs that get ingested with food. I will take this stuff for one month and see what happens. O.K.! It's been eight days, and it has definitely helped. I no longer have to take the apple-cider vinegar-garlic-ginger tonic. However, I was still having some mild stomach pain. I looked up more information and saw "zinc carnosine" mentioned as a treatment for ulcers in Japan (http://www.lef.org/protocols/gastrointestinal/digestive-disorders/page-08). I was unable to find any locally, and almost ordered some, however we had some zinc lozenges in the cupboard because of all the colds the kids bring home from school. The zinc in the lozenges is not zinc carnosine, it is zinc gluconate, but it still worked (almost immediately). As of now, I am having no stomach issues. I am still taking the Mastic gum, and zinc lozenges (especially at bedtime.) I also read that people with zinc deficiency are more prone to stomach ulcers. Wow...anyways, If you choose to go this route, be aware that some zinc lozenges also contain Echinacea. If you have autoimmune Lupus, DO NOT take Echinacea. It can cause a very rare, but very serious reaction in the body that can damage the kidneys. Good Luck everybody, whatever route you choose!

.
I’ve been using this mastic gum for H. pylori, and it worked really well for me — I saw major improvement in my symptoms. I ordered it three times before and the quality was excellent. However, on my 4th and 5th orders, the product arrived damaged, most likely due to poor storage before shipping. I really hope the company improves warehouse conditions because the product itself is very effective and worth using when it’s stored properly.
