Does just what I need. Protects counter while I'm using flat iron. I also store flat iron in it to protect the ceramic while in the drawer with other things. Flat iron & cord fit inside of it, generous size for that but, not too big. Not bulky. Good value for the price.

I like to set my straightener to 400 F and the mat has no problem with that. I love that it is also a pouch, so you can place any hot tool inside and won’t be able to feel warmth on the outside. This works as it should. Great for traveling and packing a warm curling iron when you have to pack and go. Plus it doesn’t damage the area with burn marks when laying iron on the counter.

Bought this to protect my nightstand top as I get ready in front of my bedroom mirror. Size works for straightener or fat curling iron. Protectant piece doesn't get hot; haven't used it to wrap hot tool only for wood protectant.
