These vanilla beans were amazing! They came shipped to me in a air tight package. When I opened them, they smelled of heavenly vanilla. None of my beans were dried or damaged in any way. I bought my beans to make homemade vanilla extract. I cut some of them open and they had plenty of the vanilla bean paste inside. They were large and of perfect quality.I think these would be a great addition to any person looking to use vanilla beans for their cooking or craft time. I have heard that beans do not keep well for a prolonged period of time after opened, so you will want to use them fairly quickly so they do not dry out and lessen in quality. There are so many uses for vanilla beans in cooking including making homemade ice cream, vanilla bean scones, cupcakes, cheesecake...Using real vanilla and the real paste from inside a vanilla bean can add so much flavor especially compared to a store bought vanilla extract (especially when compared to imitation vanilla!) Plus then you can feel pretty fancy, hehe.Making your own homemade vanilla extract is a great way to use up beans. Get a jug of vodka (the cheap stuff will work great) and put your beans inside and let them sit for up to 6 months. I bought a half gallon and used all the beans in the purchase for that purpose. Shake the bottle around every couple days, then tada! You can take the beans out and then cut the insides and use the paste for recipes.Heres another idea to use up extra beans for some stovetop potpourri, especially with the fall months coming up. Put cranberries, cinnamon sticks, sliced oranges or tangerines, whole cloves, pine sprigs, a little bit of apple cider or cranberry juice, a vanilla bean or two, and cover with water and simmer. Your house will smell like delicious fall/Christmasy wonderfulness.

Wonderful!
These beans are juicy and lots of fat ones. I have purchased them at least 4 times now and they are always great! I'm about to order another pound of them. I put 16 ounces into a gallon jar filled with 80 proof alcohol. This makes the BEST Vanilla Extract!

The beans were a decent size and were fresh, moist and fragrant.
I am making gift jars of vanilla extract for Christmas. It turned out more expensive than I had imagined it would be when I began the project. First, it was hard to find beans at retail stores and when I did they were quite pricey. A spice jar containing only one good bean was $8. So, I feel that buying this grade of beans in bulk was the better way to go. It worked out to about $3.50 per bean. I added several beans to each jar filled with a good vodka. Through the years as the liquid and beans are used, more vodka and beans can be added.

Excellent vanilla pods
I ordered the 16 oz. package of vanilla pods. The bean pods were 7 inches in length, fairly plump, and moist. The pod count was 108. I had them in vodka within 2 hours of receiving them. Shrink wrap was tight to the pods, keeping in the moisture. The wrap and fast shipping probably kept the condition so good, but certainly made this shopper happy. I've ordered smaller quantities from this vendor before and have always been pleased with the products. The resulting extract is flavorful and richly scented.

Homemade Vanilla Extract
This is your cue to make your own homemade vanilla extract. It is SOOOO simple and cheap. Furthermore, it takes so much better than the storebought vanilla extract. This is enough beans for 8 jars of vanilla extract.
