Fantastic Emma Frost Origin Story
Karl Bollers really wrote quite a complex origin story for Emma Frost the girl, not just another X-Men story.Emma Frost Ultimate Collection is a wonderful comic that collects Bollers' issues that take you from Emma Frost in High School through College. Bollers builds a super depressing picture of Emma that as a reader, I develops more and more empathy for by the end. She is a young, beautiful, and thoughtful girl that is born rich. However, Bollers takes these ideal beginnings and twists them into Emma's world wherein she is bullied, ignored, and hurt by so many people. All the while, Emma must learn to develop, understand, and control her budding mental powers to cheat on school tests to saving her life! It's all surrounded by her growing love interests as a normal teenage girl. If you like romance stories, there are some interesting romance plot lines here. Emma gets her heart broken or just disappointed in so many people that by the end, you really get a feel for why she feels so isolated. I feel like if mutants were real, the general public might actually react as violently or rejecting like Karl Bollers writes in Emma Frost Ultimate Collection. Bollers is creating a case study for the character of Emma Frost as a young maturing girl, super powered young woman, and a depressed and confused person. It's complex, layered storytelling at its finest! I have not read a comic as creative in it's mental prowess like it since Si Spurrier's X-Men: Legion Omnibus.I hope you give Emma Frost's life a chance, you may empathize with this comic book more than you realize. Also, the art is absolutely gorgeous and fresh throughout. Overall, this book sports lavish character designs, sleek backgrounds, highly detailed illustrations with lovely colors and inking along with telling a superbly imaginative story, I loved this book!

Very enjoyable
I found this to be a fun look into the teenage years of a young Emma Frost. The book starts out with her in school where she is an average student who gets picked on by the popular girls. And it doesn't help that Emma gets strange headaches that make her seem like a freak to the other students. Add to that her family is a not the nicest and Emma can never seem to please them. While we know where those headaches will eventually lead someday, in these stories we see a young woman struggling to find her own identity in a difficult world. The artwork especially in the first story was well suited to the material. Recommended for Emma Frost fans. One warning: the cover pin-up style artwork of a mature Emma has nothing to do with the inside story.

Hail to the Queen
Insightful glimpse into the Iconic X-Men villain. Does for the White Queen what the movie Cruella did for that Disney villain. White Queen fans should add a star. Solid material for a stand alone Marvel movie- which this character deserves.

Its good but not for everyone...
I give it a 3 because I liked it but I didn't love it. It lacks action and kind of plays out like a teen drama. As others have stated the cover is very misleading as far as the contents. They were clearly trying to get male readers to pick up a book that is about a teenage girl. I dunno that it hurt to try as It might have fooled some people into buying it. As a female comic book reader though it was something I wouldn't dare read in public. The cover is way to embarrassing. At one point a friend of mine actually mistook it for porn when they saw it on my coffee table. Again I really liked it the only thing that bothers me though is that the father and sister are cartoonishly evil for no apparent reason and the Emma in the book does not ever seem like she could really become the Emma Frost we all know and love she was just way to naive although that might be unfair to say since the series ended prematurely I think due to cancellation.

Good, just wish it covered everything
I would read this story as good it just doesn't cover everything I would have liked it to. I mean to say, the series in question was supposed to show us everything up to and including her becoming a member of the Club. But it was canceled. Not a very desirable outcome, but not their fault, I know. So I rate this purchase as very good just not great. At least it accomplished its primary goal: to show us that no one is born evil. They're basically the byproduct of their up bringing and experiences.

Great series!
Read this series a long time ago and absolutely loved it. When I sold the individual comics of the series I regretted it cause I enjoyed it so much but I stumbled across this ultimate collection of it and I'm excited to read it again!

Beautiful collection inside & out!
I've had the the single issues years ago, but thanks to this wonderfully packaged compilation I can now re-live it. Emma has always been my absolute favorite female X-man! Sure the story-lines can be soapy and melo-dramatic, but the writing by Karl Bollers makes her character development profound. Artwork is beautiful and expressive; giving each character and situation more flare and life to them. If anyone is expecting classic X-men action, duels, or cameos then prepare to be disappointed. However, for fans of Emma Frost this is a real treat to understand her origins, and development towards becoming the White Queen.

Arrived on time and a brilliant comic. Bought as a gift for my friend but read it myself. Beautifully drawn- very thick and very heavy and a great chance to discover the backstory to a very complex and often misunderstood character.

I love this on my shelf.
A must have for any Emma Frost fan. The artwork is beautiful and the colours are stunning. Well worth the price. The story will help you understand the beginnings of the White Queen and the integration into the xmen due to the person she used to be will make sense. It only goes up to the point she attends college so hopefully there will be an ultimate collection 2 to cover the Hellfire arc.

Great read.
Great read. Read it twice actually. Mind-blowing artwork. Get to know about the first time the powers of Emma manifested.
