Bought this for my grandchildren. Its just like I remember it from when I was a kid. Good will triumph over evil when the good ones stick together.

It’s a memory for my new great granddaughter, it was a favorite of her Dad’s when he was little… 47 years ago. 🤗

This is one of my favorite books to read to my children. It is perfect for boys or girls. One of my favorite things is that it gives my girls a feminine hero. Miss Suzy delights in cooking and cleaning. She is generous and opens up her home to those in need. She cares for others “like a mother.” And for my boys, they see a masculine hero who is inspired to stand up for the person who has taken care of him and his men. The captain shows courage as he goes to fight to get Miss Suzy’s rightful home back for her. There are not many books that show these stories so well- especially in our current cultural climate! While I don’t think that “all women should stay in the home” and “all men must grow up to go to war,” I’m glad there is a story that shows these roles for what they are: honorable, needed, and worth defending.

I bought this book, not as a gift, but for myself. I suppose it was a gift after all. The gift of nostalgia. I remember so fondly reading this book as a child, and was thrilled to find it on Amazon. The story and illustrations are timeless, and the book is perfect for all children, and nostalgic adults.

I'm looking forward to sharing this cherished story with a special little girl in my life. Since it's a gift, the condition upon arrival was important to me. Thank you.

This book has it all! Beautiful setting, drama, adversity, heroic deeds, and good housekeeping.My mom read it to me and I was so thrilled to find it to read to my grandchildren.

I loved this book as a child and was thrilled to pass it on to my little girl. It really captures the imagination of what it's like for little ones to live in small spaces. Anyone who loves treehouses and forts will find it delightful. Descriptive pictures -- wonderful for all ages -- although outdated in terms of gender roles.

A fun book for little children.

I still have my copy from 1972 and read it to my kids when they were little. They can now have a copy of their own and I'm thrilled.

I have such great memories of reading this book as a child at my grandma’s house. I’m so happy to have a copy of my own to share with my niece and nephew.

I was SO excited to see that this book was available and for Prime shipping. Unfortunately, I just opened it up and it's dust jacket is damaged 🥺.
