Delicious and Easy
I love Vejje Beef-free mix. We can't get our usual frozen meat-free protein sources during the lockdown. I took a gamble on this. The day it arrived, I made tacos. I didn't realize you have to make the whole 1.5 pound worth bag at once, so I just separated it, and will use the second portion for a Bolognese. I was surprised to see the mix is like lumpy powder and not like plain tvp at all, but as soon as I poured the water, it looked immediately like wet frozen crumbles. My only complaint is that in our 100 year old house, I know not to drink the water that comes from the hot tap, it isn't safe. Instead, I got water close to a boil in the kettle on the stove. As for ease and taste, it was wonderful. I followed the enclosed recipe, and made delicious taco 'meat' that my son who hates all meat-free products said he loved.Lastly, I'm very excited to travel and camp with this mix. I usually struggle to maintain frozen products in a cooler. I'm excited to try the chicken-less and sausage-less varieties. I'm putting in an order today!

A Non-Vegan tries the Vejje Beef-Free Mix
I was encouraged to try this product by a friend of mine who is vegan. I have to say I was very skeptical as most of the vegan products I have tried have tasted nothing like real meat (inconsistent texture, bland flavor, didn't work well in recipes like nachos, tacos, burritos, burgers, etc.).I prepared the beef-flavored Vejje mix per the instructions on the box and used virgin olive oil. I did use hot "filtered water instead of just tap water, so keep that in mind. The preparation was easy and straightforward.I tasted the product by itself straight out of the pan before adding any spices and have to say it was really good. The texture approximated that of beef, the flavor was savory and worked well with a variety of spices and cheeses. All in all, I was very pleased by how tasty, and how meat-like, this version of "vegan beef" was. I will definitely buy this again (for my own use and because I have a number of vegetarian/vegan friends who will enjoy it as well).

Too $, Skip It
I used this in chili and the kids didn't taste the difference. However, I don't recommend this product unless you can find it in a store for a reasonable price. When it arrived, the packages were broken open and there was powdery residue all over everything. One of the boxes was almost completely empty. It was packaged and shipped very poorly. In addition, the taste wasn't that great. There are so mamy other options available, better tasting, and way cheaper. I recommend trying something else, unless you're out of options. If you are, toss it in chili, it'll mask the taste and make it edible.

Unable to mix a small portion
The taste is pretty good. However, I am not happy with the packaging since a bag makes 1.5 pounds, which is too much to use at one time. I feel this should be divided into 3 bags since most recipes call for one pound. Because of the consistency of the mix, the package cannot be separated into 2 portions.

Excellent product
I went to the Vejje website and copied the meatloaf recipe and it was delicious! There were eight of us for dinner, so I used both packages to make a large meatloaf. Two of my guests do not eat any oils and the Vejje meatloaf recipe calls for some. I followed the recipe except for leaving out the oil. Everybody loved it and I’ve already reordered the “beef” for the next time I make meatloaf.

Tastes good but...
Tastes very good but it’s difficult to cook. It stuck so bad, I ruined a copper pan. I don’t think I'll be ordering it again.

Love it!
I’ve used the beef flavor for burgers, burritos, and seasoned for nachos. It’s the best substitute I’ve found. I liked it so much, I just ordered a variety 3 pack! I used 1 package of the chicken (best chicken sub I’ve found for salads, fettuccine, stroganoff, tacos, etc.) as a base for Seitan, adding vital wheat gluten, nutritional yeast, paprika, garlic and onion powder, and black pepper as dry ingredients, 1-can equivalent of chickpeas with the aquafaba, and hot veggie broth to mix to a loose Seitan. I steamed this in loosely wrapped foil over steam of veggie/mushroom broth a a bit of homemade maple syrup for a touch of sweetness for about 1-1/2 hours on low steam. It was wonderful! The texture was the best Seitan I’ve ever made. I’ll be working on perfecting the seasonings. It also froze well.

Save your money
Texture is okay, flavor is terrible, I added so much seasoning to this and it didn’t taste like anything
