Affordable, durable tool for scuba diving suited to other sporting/outdoor activities too.
The Casio DW290 is an affordable, durable tool for scuba diving suited to other sporting/outdoor activities too.47.5 x 45.0 x 13.5mm / 60gThis watch was designed to be used for scuba diving so the buttons are easy to use underwater with cold or gloved hands (or cold, gloved hands!), and I can attest to the fact that they work. I have used my GW-M6510 for diving before (as it is rugged and water resistant) but the small, recessed buttons are tricky to operate underwater. Consequently, I wanted something easier to use, but more affordable than a G-Shock, and I chanced upon a review of the DW290 on the Urban Gentry YouTube channel that led me to try this watch. The plastic strap was stiff and uncomfortable to begin with but softened up after a few days. It is quite long but fits over my wetsuit/semi-drysuit well. In everyday wear the tail of the strap is longer than the keeper so I use a ranger band (made from an old inner tube) to manage it. As this watch is not part of the G-Shock range the strap is not curved and will lie flat if necessary. The backlight is bright and makes the display easily read in the dark. The two right hand side buttons (“light” and “start”) are reversed compared to my GW-M6510 which took some time to get used to. The module is fairly simple and the functions are: alarm, countdown and stopwatch. One little feature I particularly like is that I can see the time when in countdown or stopwatch mode. The styling is quite retro (90s) which could be a problem for some people, but I’m old enough that I went to the cinema to see Mission Impossible (1996), consequently, it is not a problem for me. Also, asTom Cruise wore a very similar watch in that movie (though on a nato or zulu strap) it is suitable for smaller wrists (6.75”/17.1cm). To clarify, I don’t know how big Tom’s wrists are but I am about the same height as him and it fits my wrists well!I have used it on about 20 dives so far (maximum depth 32m) and it has been fine. All in all, I really like it, use it for diving/swimming in the sea 2-3 times a week and consider this watch to be excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Still one of the best values in the watch industry.
The media could not be loaded. Wears excellent. Sits comfortably on the wrist like my Seiko divers. So don't hesitate if you have smaller wrists. Tough as a tank but light weight and no wrist fatigue whatsoever. And last but no less important it looks great. It's a true tool watch that's all business. Oh, and it's all of $35-$39 depending on which seller you go with. I love my automatics but every watch guy or gal has at least one Casio in their collection. This one DEFINITELY deserves a spot in your watch box.

Best watch of this style I've ever owned!
I have owned several Casio watches (and several other Casio products over many years) and been 100% pleased with each. I use this model chronograph for work, including maintaining swimming pools, sprinkler systems and fountains, so it's frequently exposed to water and chemicals. The feature I particularly need is the automatic restart option of the countdown timer, which I've not seen on many watches. I've never had a failure, except when the battery needs to be changed the second or third time (each battery lasts years, if you don't use the light much) the thin "0-ring" seal on the back cover has stretched or breaks and doesn't provide a waterproof seal when reassembled. That means that it's fine for normal wear and exposure to rain, etc., but if put under water even quickly, the face will likely fog up until it can be dried out. It's not easy to find a proper replacement for the o-ring because it's difficult to conform a normal o-ring to the shape of the back opening. Also, after a few years, the band gets stiff and can tear where the clasp tongue latches it or perspiration can cause the pin where it attaches to the watch body to rust and fail. Replacement bands are not very expensive and worth the cost once or maybe twice. Still, these watches provide such good service that I replace them after a couple of batteries and/or bands if I can find a good price. At retail of $70 or more at many places, that's not practical, but I found this one at Amazon.com for about $30 including shipping! At that price, and with the proven reliability (and features) of this model, it's an excellent investment. My previous Casio DW290 is still working and I keep it as a spare for when I'm doing something that puts it at risk of serious damage -- it's more than 10 years old!

Mission impossible 1watch
I love my Casio . I like this watch ,it has a sort of 80s vibe with its screen lumensanc green screen and it's scuba mask shape. This watch will not appeal to everybody but if you get it , you get it. This watch gets more wrist time than many of my stainless divers i own . The looks grew on me and now I wear this watch often and it gives me a care free wearing experience something most of my other watches fail to bring. I do recommend this CASIO for anybody waiting a tough as nails time piece..
