Absolutely worth it for a price like this
At first I was not sure if this would work and I felt hesitant to even put it in water even though its submersible but I actually did manage to find a hose from another product I bought from amazon that was trash for water cleaning and it fit on the fittings that come with this product. The hygger 400 comes with three fittings and I was impressed that this actually worked out, anyway the machine isnt very quiet which is fine but it does a stupendous job!! It not only absorbs the water but it did not disturb my substrate so cleaning was much much easier. I was able to get the entire job done in 2 hours. (Probably could have been sooner but I was fiddling with decor)So in a nut shell:Worth the money? YesSaves time in weekly water changes? YesDisturbs decor and substrate? NoEasy to use? YesComes with a hose? No.Comes with instructions? Yes.Can be safely submerged? Yes.I have two goldfish named Twin Flames and they reside in a 21 gallon tank.

Perfect for my application running it on a reactor.
Exceptional product, perfect for my application. This product is well made and pumps as expected. A little bigger than expected, but not a problem for my application.

Works really well. But has metal screws.
I’ve got this in the ATO of my reef tank. I’ve used pumps with stainless steel screws before but I will be monitoring them every refill just to make sure there is no rust. So far it’s been a few weeks and no signs.

Get 'er done!
I've only used it once, and let me tell you. I did a 25% water change, start to finsh, in my 29 gallon aquarium, in less than 10 minutes! BIG back AND time saver! I tried the model a step below this one (~150gph?) Which worked OK but it was too slow for me and I have a tall tank so it struggled to pump the water up to where I needed it. So i tried a different brand at 800gph... WAYYYY to much. But this 400gph model is just write! And seems to be built well. Pair with python "the hook" and some 3/4 id silicon tubing and you're set! Would highly recommend 👌

Cheap and unreliable
Was good while it worked. Only got to use it 3 times until the unit stopped working 2 weeks after my allotted return period. So now I am stuck with a pump that won't power on. Worked great for water changes on my small aquarium until the last time I tried using it and it was dead.

Super easy to use!
This thing is awesome and fast and helps save me so much time doing water changes on my two saltwater aquariums. I also throw it in my rodi container to aerate the water the day of my water changes. It did come with some adapters for tubing which was nice but I do wish it came with actual tubing though.

Absolutely revolutionized our waterchanges
Our use-case is: We have a 40gal fancy goldfish tank and we age the water in a companion tank (no livestock, just water + conditioner and a bubbler) for a few days between changes. We use a facet-based water changer (Google "Python water changer" for the idea, but we use aqueon w/ aftermarket 50ft tube after having issues with the green-plastic python design) to drain the water, but then we had a normal water pump to move it from the aging tank back into the GF tank.Whenever we'd get down to the last 2-3 gallons in the aging tank, our old one would need to be laid down, and maybe held in place and it couldn't even get the last 0.5 gallons anyway. What a pain. This one sucks from the bottom and can empty about 99.5% of the water out of our little 10 gallon water ager. I haven't had a need yet since we downsized our tanks (I had 10 at one point before moving), but I can think of many uses for a pump like this. I believe any intermediate+ fish keeper absolutely should keep this on hand even if they're not using it regularly. Emptying out a tank for a move or for a super-clean would have been SO much easier with this rather than trying to use my waterchanger and a turkey baster to get the last .5gal of water out of my tanks. If you need to fully dry a tank, run this until it is making so much noise you're worried, then tip the tank onto a slope so the water pools and pump out what you can, then lay a towel down for 10-30m and finally towel up the rest. That's maybe 5-10 mins of labor and the rest is monitoring. Highly recommended! Note, however, that the flowrate isn't high, so if you're on a tight timeline, you may want to upgrade to a higher GPH for 50, 75, 100+ tanks.

*** New Edit*** Broke after 4 months
*** Edit Jan 2021 - Due to my previous review the customer service team reached out to me and in doing so made quick work of sending out a replacement pump. A faulty item can happen anywhere and it is great that they took the initiative to make things right. I have not been using this new pump for very long due to just receiving it but due to their customer service alone they are getting three stars for now. I intend to update this review again in a few months to reflect the reliability of the new unit.So I got this for a sump filter for my 75gal turtle tank. It worked good for a short bit louder then I wouldve liked but there was good pressure. On one of my maintenance cleaning of the filter I noticed the case was cracked which was weird since I never dropped it so I patched it with some silicone thinking thats why it had got louder which made no difference then one night trying to go to bed I hear this awful noise so I run over thinking it was low on water level which it wasn't so I quickly unplugged it for the night. Next morning pull it out try cleaning it and when I pulled the propeller out there were chunks of plastic or something so I just threw it in the garbage and ordered an actual aquarium sump pump which I should've done from the start.
