No finer knife exists.
Solingen Germany - they know knives. This is the third one I've purchased over the last 20 years - first was for myself and other two as gifts. I've tried a lot of knives and own Henckels as well, but I think Wusthof has a finer edge and slightly better steel. I think the handle is somewhat dated - there's definitely cooler more modern styles that fit the hand more ergonomically. Then again I kinda like the flat side that keeps it from rolling in my hand. I really like the 6 inch size. I've got bigger knives and when I'm going after a pot of potatoes or some big meat I'll use them. But for most veggies and smaller meats the 6 inch is so much easier to use. Great for kids too - big enough they know it's not a toy but small enough they can work it without feeling intimidated. Sharp A.F. - you have been warned. Seriously this item is probably the best made thing I've ever had in my hand. It almost makes this world and this life tolerable.

Better than a prison shank
I have an 8” Calphalon Katana chef’s knife that’s my go-to, but for smaller tasks it’s a bit unwieldy. So I ordered the Wusthof classic 6” cooks knife. Fit and finish are overall pretty good. Mine had a small chink in the edge of the blade when I unboxed it, and it also needed a few passes over my ceramic honing stone, but otherwise it’s immaculate. Out of the box it was literally sharp enough to shave with. Sizewize, it’s more narrow at its widest part than my 8” and the blade is a little thinner throughout its length. To me it almost feels fragile in comparison to my 8”, which being high-carbon steel, it kind of is. My 8” Katana has better ergonomics, as its handle seamlessly blends into the blade, so I’ll have to learn a new grip to use this one, but that’s a minor detail. It’s very light and feels quite nimble in the hand, which is exactly what I was looking for. I’m very pleased and I’ll most likely buy additional Classic series knives, based on my experience with this one.

A KNIFE OF MANY USES
This brand has always been one of the top World brands. I can now see why. They cut incredibly, handle with ease, and their balance is beautiful. I bought one of their hand-held sharpeners for this knife. It had two different types of sharpening: one was for the types used by my knife and the other was for was a more Japanese type setting of 18 degrees. I pulled the new knife through the sharpener at the European setting it used, and with four pulls it was back to exactly the sharpness it had when I received it. Overall, a great knife and be sure to get the accompanying sharpener.

Amazing knife at a great price
I've used this knife for over 2 years, and I've come to find I can use it for nearly anything. It is large enough to use on anything you would use a 8" chef's knife for, but at 6 inches, it's easy to use for smaller things as well. It is sharp enough to cut paper, holds its point well, and feels great in the hand. 99% of cutting is with this knife and a paring knife. I'd highly recommend it for anyone upgrading or buying their first good knife.

Had this knife for 2 years now. Best purchase I've made.
This knife is amazing. Running strong two years now and with proper care and occasional honing, still near razor sharp. I use this knife for everything from soft veggies to tough meats without an issue. Wusthof makes great stuff. Pick a knife, get it, be satisfied for many years to come. Looking to buy a cleaver next and Wusthof is the first brand I'll turn to.

Best knife in the drawer
I had this knife already and love it. My brother came to visit and he’s a great cook. He used this knife and couldn’t put it down. He raved how even being a man it fit comfortably in his hand and felt balanced. For the money this knife is the way to go. If you enjoy cooking then this knife is a gem. As a surprise I sent him his very own. His words were “this is the best gift I’ve gotten in a long time “ Looks like I know what he’ll get for Christmas, another knife from this collection!

LOVE THIS KNIFE
I'm a Wusthof fan. I like this knife so much that I've bought one of these for each of my children. It is a fantastic knife. The shorter length is quite handy when I don't need my large chef knife. Highly recommended!
