Post-Harvest of Flowers
To begin with, the cover photo of a bird-of-paradise has nothing to do with this published graduate student thesis on heliconia. I suspect the student did not choose the cover photo. The literature review is OK, but the actual research on post-harvest of heliconia is little more than keeping a number of imported inflorescences in water and watching them deteriorate. Color was mentioned as a criterion for whether the inflorescence was still usable, but all photos in the book are in black and white. A proposal for use of chemicals to improve keeping life was included but no data. The conclusion that more study is needed is correct, but not very satisfying. Given the price for this little book, I'd say save your money.
