Birds are gone!
I bought the Bird Scare tape to try and stop some birds from building a nest on the top/side of the light on my front porch. For days whatever kind of bird it is (I believe it might be some kind of swallow, although we do have lots of robins in the area, so I can't rule those out) would attempt to make a nest atop our light fixture. The spot the bird was attempting to build in was not conducive to nest building and there would be straw, twigs, etc littering my entire porch. I would daily knock the beginnings of the nest down and sweep the porch. From whatever time I would sweep until night time, the birds would stay away. Every morning though when I would get up and get my kids to school, the nest evidence would be back though.I started researching how to discourage them from building anymore. I read about the bird be gone gels (but didn't want to deal with the mess getting all over and didn't want to risk killing the birds), wasn't sure what size bird spikes would be correct. I couldn't figure out how to put an owl or a snake close enough to the light to scare the birds. So I decided on the scare tape. I had my husband hang a few strips off of the ceiling on our front porch (the front wall of the house is stone, so attaching to the front would have been difficult). It has been 5 days since we put the tape up and in that time the birds haven't tried to build anything! So for us it worked.I like that this product did deliver the desired results. No birds' nest on my front porch light. I am hoping it proves to be a long term solution. It is a little bit of an eyesore on the front of the house, but if it does prove to be good for the long haul, I might attempt to make some kind of florette/bow type thing out of the tape that would be a bit more appealing to the human eye.

Highly Effective
I had been having problems with birds nesting & perching on the high ledges around my home. Not so bad if they didn't leave their poop all over the place, in addition to causing an unsightly stain on the new paint. Once I installed the Scare Tape, the birds simply left. I like that this tape is wide because imo it seems to be more effective. The highly reflective surface & the slight sound it makes while fluttering in the breeze causes the birds to keep their distance. Now when I'm out in the yard, I can hear the birds squawking on the neighbors' roofs...probably complaining about the mean old man with the Scare Tape! Highly recommended. I also like the fact that the owner of the company personally emailed to follow up if I had encountered any problems or had any questions & to thank me for the purchase.Update 04/27/2016: Just have one negative comment: the tape doesn't seem to be very sturdy. I'm finding that I need to put up new tape quite frequently because it tears easily when the wind is strong, even when it's new. The other brand that I used previously fared much better. Not sure if it is because the other tape was 1" wide vs this one at 2". Nonetheless, it's still effective.

Didn't realize that it's not really "tape" - it doesn't have a sticky side!! So that made it harder to use because you need to actually tape it down. Ended up flapping in the wind a lot and then flew off at some point. Been too lazy to tape more back up, but it seemed to keep the pigeons away while it was up!

Bought to scare away pigeons who were defecating all over our outdoor patio seating table that is right in front of our office entrance. This was making a real unsightly mess! This did scare them away for about a week. However three kept coming back. Even tried the pigeon spikes.Unfortunately the only thing that stopped the problem was a pellet gun.

Finally lets me eat my berries but sure didn't deter nest-building
I have half a dozen everbearing strawberry plants this year, but the birds have been beating me to most of the berries. That stopped when I put strips of this tape around them a few weeks ago. Birds are always nesting under my garage and backdoor awnings and then are repeatedly disturbed because I need to use those doors. I plan to use the tape in those areas next spring to deter them so they can find a better place to nest. I expect to be as effective as with the berries.4/14/16: Well, it's spring and that idea failed: the birds just tucked their nest right behind tape. (See photo). A factor on why it worked to protect the strawberries but didn't deter birds from nesting under the awning could be because the sunlight is more limited under the awning, but that is a disappointment as the birds won't want me coming in-and-out and you can see the mess already.

Worked very well but kooky instructions
We have evergreen trees outside our living room bay window. Some robins built nests in those trees. Robins are fiercely protective of their domains. When the robins saw their reflections in the two side windows of the bay they began attacking what they thought were intruding marauder birds. From about 5:30 AM every morning until dark for 5-6 weeks the robins would be smashing their beaks into our windows. Unrelated to this matter, I was looking on Amazon for electronic deer repellers, and on one of those pages I noticed reflective ribbons to scare away birds. I zeroed in on this brand because it had good ratings. Four days ago I put up three ribbons on each window --- taped on the inside with about 18" hanging out. The birds have not banged since. In short the tape worked very well. One additional comment, however. On the package the information advises to "Hang in Sun and avoid rain". It further advises that "For fruit or vegetables apply tape above crops just before they ripen." First of all the tape is made out of mylar and is unaffected by rain Second, if we are told to avoid rain, are we limited to crops growing in greenhouses?
