NICE HOOKS FOR THE PRICE. I'm happy with them.
I recently ordered these bamboo hooks and they came one day earlier than the estimated arrival date. Nice! These hooks are of nice quality. They feel pretty sturdy, though I'm sure you'd have to have a gentle touch using the thinner ones. I wouldn't put much tension or force on them. Many sizes, but nothing in the 7mm range. The hooks jump from 6.50mm to 8mm. It would have been nice to have a 7mm hook, but it's not the end of the world for me. I am currently using the 8mm on a Tunisian Entrelac afghan. I WAS using a Susan Bates acrylic hook. Though it's alright, the thumb rest on it is wide and not so good for having several loops(up to 7)on the shaft at the same time. The thumb rest makes some of the loops too big. I placed a pen grip over the thumb rest to prevent the loops from going over it. It was OK, but still not the way Tunisian crochet should be. I could find nothing satisfactory in the stores. Yeah, they had afghan hooks, but the diameters were all smaller than I wanted and they didn't have one with an in-line hook. I don't like hooks that are proud of the shaft. You tend to get hooked up on things that you don't want to and it makes crochet frustrating.Getting back to these hooks: As I said, they are of nice quality, inline hook and the thumb rests are minimal. They are the same width of the rest of the shaft, just indented a bit. They're smoother than I expected them to be. No sharp edges either. I found that I am crocheting faster with the bamboo hook than I was with the stunted plastic hook. My stitches are more even and look better now. No over sized loops! These hooks are not meant for Tunisian crochet, but it's alright because I never have more than 7 loops on the hook at any given time. I didn't want the extra length of a real Tunisian hook hanging off the back of my hand when I don't need that much room. These hooks are already pretty smooth, but I took it a step further. I melted plain white wax into the surface of the 8mm hook and then rubbed the heck out of it with a clean terry cloth rag. I now have an even smoother hook that glides easier through the yarn than it did before. I suppose you could use some polyurethane on them if you are good at applying it properly. But I didn't want to get into that. Didn't want to take the extra time for it to dry, I want this darn afghan done as soon as possible. I might polyurethane the smaller hooks though. You could also use Lemon Pledge on them. It does help cut down on drag. I even read that one lady uses olive oil on them so they wont dry out as wood does tend to do that. These are all options. I'm liking the coating of wax on mine though.I'm happy with the hooks and the price is great for the number and quality of them, which is pretty good, better than I expected. I plan on getting the true Tunisian afghan hooks from the same company. I expect they'll be as good as these shorter hooks. All in all, a rather nice value!

Not bad...
These crochet hooks are kinda hit and miss. I like how light they are, the look and the feel of the bamboo. But there is hardly a grip on any of the smaller ones and my 3.5 sized hook has a bend to it. My bigger issue with these hooks is that most of them tend to chip in the middle of use. This snags my yarn on a little but its rather annoying. A metal nail file tends to fix the problem but it would be nice to get thru a project without having to stop and file my hook. All in all, had I known the trouble these hooks would be I wouldn't have purchased them. But having them now, I just filed them a bit and keep working.

SPLINTERS!!!
I was so excited after I read the reviews saying they would never go back to metal hooks.WRONG!!!I got out the h hook and had to use a fine nail buffer to get the splinters rubber down YET STILL I couldn't use it. It snagged every single stitch!!SOOO I decided to doctor it up with some clear polish...NO GOOD! I threw them in the TRASH! ~~~~Because the TRASH CAN is the only place they belonged!

Painful to use
I really love the idea of bamboo hooks. These don't slip easily through the thread or yarn, so you have to grip them quite hard. They are entirely cylindrical also, so you don't have a wider area to hold. I have returned to aluminum crochet hooks.

Excellent Value
I managed to teach myself to crochet this past summer after over ten years of hardcore knitting. I'd always been one of those holier-than-thou knitters who though that crochet was "too easy" and "for kids," but after figuring out the basics I have to say that I absolutely see why crocheting is so popular. All the wasted years! At any rate, I'd gotten attached to bamboo knitting needles, and thought that bamboo crochet hooks couldn't be a bad investment. Especially at this price; $12.98 for 12 wooden hooks, as opposed to $12 for four metal ones at my local Michael's? What a no-brainer!Now, the hooks I received don't look much like the ones in the picture. They were a much lighter, balsa-wood type color. They are polished and very smooth and feel nice in-hand. Each hook has its size printed clearly on the side, which was a real boon for me. I do wish that the "point" at the head of these hooks was a little sharper; I tend to crochet very tight and it's hard to push your hook through the loop if the head isn't sharp enough. The medium-to-large sized hooks seem to be built the most sturdily; I'm nervous to try out the smaller ones because they sort of feel like toothpicks! But, for what you get for the price, I don't have a lot to complain about. In the event that I do start dealing with chips or snags in the wood, it won't be a huge investment to buy another set, and I'd rather have the feel of bamboo and a little less longevity than try to deal with aluminum hooks anymore. These would also be a great, cheap gift for someone interested in picking up crochet!

Great crochet hooks
I was fairly concerned when I bought this product... I had heard of bamboo crochet hooks and was very interested in them because of the great feedbacks that accompanied these types of hooks. I knew they where somewhat expensive, especially for someone like me that wanted a fairly complete set ( all or nothing... Lol ). I had no need to buy new hooks, being that I have an extensive collection. But when I saw the price of this set I took a leap of faith and got them... And the price was precisely my fear ( to cheap to be good ). They were delivered quickly and packaged very well, they came in a simple clear bag and are totally AWESOME! Lol. They have both US and UK sizes printed on them and there easy to read... They're smooth, light weight, sturdy and cause no pain in your wrist and hands, and plus they just look great lol. I'm completely happy with this product and the low price it has... I would completely recommend it to anyone who is into crochet.
