Bongzilla is the epitome of stoner metal. The music is heavy, simple, overwhelming, and sludgy. Every song sounds pretty much the same, often using little quotes about guess what in the beginning. Each song features a pretty fast tempo riff and then segues into heacy guitar work and screaming unintelligible vocals. So does it sound good? The answer is invariably yes, the little riffs played by the guitarist are often very catchy and the real reason why Bongzilla sounds as good as it does. The album is heavy, really heavy.I do not however recommend this album to everyone, some people will not be able to handle the vocals and the monotony of the album, but fans of Iron Monkey, Queens of the Stone Age, and fans of Sludge and Doom metal will find something to like in this album. Take a guess what you should do when listening to this album!

one of the impressions i got from this band is that their main priority is to spread the good word about marijuana. their second priority is to make fun music to listen to while you get stoned. i think they take both priorities pretty seriously. this album is so inheritantly feelgood and groovy i don't know what to tell you. they songs are a joy to play and are fun to listen to and you'll have stupid songs like 'sacred smoke' and 'budgun/thc' in your head for quite a while after you hear them. it's great stuff, though there are a couple of stoner-jams with no lyrics, just samples on this album.... the tempo of this album combined with the way they write wriffs is perfect. ...

OK, I'm the furthest thing from a stoner imaginable, but these guys sure make it interesting. It's all about weed with them. . . .growing, cultivating, trimming, wrapping and of course, SMOKING the green giant. Never has one band said so much about so little. And for those of you expecting trippy Dead-Phish jams, forget it. Bongzilla is as dinosaur heavy as it gets. It even gets apocalyptic with "P.O.W." but mostly it's like riding in a bubble window Chevy Van with a Craig 8-track. Fun stuff, and the indica/sativa spreads inside make nice postcards . . .

i heard the song smoke like the wind and i thought it was amazing so i bought this. and what a i got was another eyehategod clone. i thought finally someone had done something new for sludge/doom but i guess i was wrong. but anyways most of this is above most ehg clones and smoke like the wind is a cool song

Here we have a heavier than hell band in the Sleep/Cathedral vein (who play GREEN Matamp amps by the way...which crush!), but the vocals are unfortunately in the Napalm Death/Morbid Angel mold of guttural growls, which ruins everything. Unless of course you're into that sort of thing.

THIS IS A COOL CD TO HAVE ITS FAST AND HEVEY SO I WOULD GET IT IF UR A DEATH METAL FAN
