Excellent with plastic bottles; does not work for wine bottles
These work great with plastic water and soda bottles, but not with wine bottles. I bought this style, because I thought it would work for both types of bottles, but I have yet to find a glass bottle that will fit in these ones. I'm really disappointed about that, because glass bottles look so much better. However, these work perfectly for plastic bottles. We were out of town for weeks at a time this summer, and these kept our plants alive, without over-watering them. We had previously tried a cheaper plastic version similar to these, and they drained all the water out of the bottle immediately, and overflowed the plants. I would highly recommend these, but be sure to get the right ones for the bottles you want to use.

Truly amazing
Surprised me that these worked so well...but they do. I bought 8 of these smaller ones and 8 of the larger wine bottle stakes--set them up and took off for a week. All of them were used in OUTDOOR pots--of which most were exposed to full sunlight all day long. To my surprise--all my plants were alive and doing well when I returned. I have an old wheel barrow filled with plant--and used 3 stakes in that one container--but it worked. My neighbor borrowed them two weeks ago to give them a try while she was out of town for 4 nights--and was so impressed that she ended up buying her own. I only use them when I'm leaving home for a few days--and only on plants outside in containers--so I imagine on indoor plants you could easily leave for 2 weeks and your plants would be just fine. I like the large wine bottle stakes better since they hold more water. Oh--I had to use plastic soda bottles--as my cheap Costco water bottles didn't work.

Results inconsistent.
I've used this and wine bottle stakes to feed indoor plants while on vacation. While this version worked, I found the wine bottle version of the stake waterer to work better, as in "they always work". There have been occasions where this stake, when used with a one-liter bottle, failed to feed consistently, whereas the wine bottle w/ stakes have never failed. So I tend to use this bottle stake to water succulent plants, when I'm around, to be sure the pot's soil doesn't dry out if my watering schedule is interrupted.

I want more!!
Works as described. This is a lifesaver for people like me (and our plants)! I frequently forget to water my plants. I've tried the glass globe type of products but they seem to run out too quickly. I have larger house plants and they require more water than even the larger globe offers. Using this option not only is great to re-purpose bottles but, also is good because I can see the water level every time I walk by my plant and know just when it needs more! I will be purchasing more of these for my other plants!

My peace lily is now thriving
I have bought something similar to this that was plastic and it was junk, but this is awesome. My peace lily sits in my office so I can easily water it but it is moody and I seem to over or under water it. Plant Nanny, though, seems to get it right all the time.

Be careful!
Ordered multiple before I went on vacation for 3 weeks. Plants weren't dead but definitely not doing well. Minus stars for how easily they break when inserting into soil. Be careful!

With a large soda bottle it will last at least ...
With a large soda bottle it will last at least 3-4 days in FL. I got them to all my large potted plants. It keeps them alive between waterings.
