Adventures in sailing and helping others.
If you ever wondered what it would be like to sail the Pacific in a 43 foot sloop and come upon a tropical island, fall in love with the people there, and be challenged by their needs and just jump in and help, this book will interest you. Nelleke shares her and her husband, Henk's, adventures in sailing: encountering storms, watching dolphins, enjoying beautiful moonlit nights, eating fish freshly caught, etc.. She also tells about the relief work (medical, educational, etc.) she and her husband and many volunteers did over the years in Vanuatu. The mixture of sailing adventures and descriptions of this beautiful country and it's people makes pleasurable reading, and she writes in a warm conversational style.

A Realistic Maritime and Humaniarian Adventure!
“Flying Angel” is an inspiring and remarkably realistic story of married couple of adventurers and humanitarians who develop their sailing skills in coastal waters of the Americas, refine their skills in the open Pacific Ocean, and develop a medical mission (Project MARC) at the South Pacific Island of Vanuatu. Nelleke, an outgoing and humanistic ski instructor by background, deftly maneuvers Project MARC through the island geography and intercultural exchanges, complementing the medical and maritime skills and humanitarian motivation of her husband, Henk. Having participated with Henk and Nelleke aboard Rivendel II in the pre-MARC days , I can testify that “Fly Angel” sounds like an accurate depiction of a difficult, but gratifying long-term experience blessed by the Big Fella Antap! My experiences with them and in “Flying Angel” have provided a number of lifelong useful lessons.

Great Story
Flying Angel by Nelleke Meuzelaar is a remarkable story of compassion and dedication in the transformation of a sailing adventure into a medical mission of hope. It portrays the challenge of sailing in South Pacific with the discovery of an incredible need of medical attention for various island inhabitants. The Meuzelaar’s are a combination of a husband medical doctor and organizational/promotional wife. The determination of seeing through a difficult task of providing medical help to the needy with the ability to recruit a vast array of well qualified volunteers provides a continually refreshing story. If you like to sail and love success stories you will enjoy Flying Angel.
