Good old Daisy comes through
I grew up with Daisy BB guns shooting minnows in our backyard canal, and 60 years later I bought my second one for different reasons. I now have a farm with lots of livestock, including two new Great Pyrenees dogs that I am about to let loose from their fenced area. However, I know that they will be going after our chickens right away. This BB gun will hopefully work fine to discourage them from attacking the chickens without hurting them more than just a little sting. My neighbor uses one and encouraged me to get one. It was easy to open the package and load BBs. It says it holds 650 BBs, and it's probably right. I stopped loading after about 100 or so. The loading process is simple enough, but I need to find a better way. Pouring the BBs from the bottle spout doesn't work well. The BBs get clogged at the small opening. It seemed to work better by pouring BBs into my hand and cupping it just right over the loading spot. Cocking it is simple and sweet. I held the rifle upwards and cocked it, and it loaded and fired every time. You can cock it with or without the safety on, and it both loads and fires perfectly either way. I fired my first shot at a plastic bucket about 25 feet away, and it hit it and bounced off. I fired many more and hit the target. I tried firing about 50 feet, and the ballistic curve is somewhat significant. I'm not an expert, but I would guess that at 50 feet the BB dipped at least an inch. At 350 fps, I'm guessing that's about right. Somewhere between .5 inch and 1.5 inch at 50 feet. I plinked at plastic buckets, plywood sheets, metal poles, and a doghouse metal roof. The BBs all bounced off. I got a good indication of the actual force of the BB when I hit the metal pole. Just like astronomers use the intensity of light to measure star distances, the intensity of the ping sound of the BB on the pole about 10 feet away was an indication of the energy of the BB. It was quite a ping. I would not want to be hit by one of these from 10 feet away. This gun, at this price, is definitely worth the money. I recommend it to anyone looking to own a good BB gun that will perform.

Feels vintage—shoots well
Not only is it a blast from my past, but it performs with precision. Often, we have wild critters, mostly squirrels, that get into our yard and feed, so a little backside pop reminds them to go elsewhere. We’re far enough away that it pings without wounding them or worse. It’s also fun for to use with a paper target, teaching the grandchildren how to aim and shoot. Wuality, lightweight, easy to reload.

Great gun for the price.
I'm happy with this purchase because it is just as described. The best feature is that it can hold 650 BBs. Nothing else comes close. It isn't as powerful as some out there, but the reviews are better than those other guns and for good reason. Mine seems to be very accurate. I needed to stop the birds from destroying my expensive patio furniture and ruining a $500 ceiling fan by building a mud and stick nest on top of the motor. We tried all the other methods to stop them. This works.

Indoor plinking greatness
Unlike many reviewers here, I never had a Daisy Red Ryder carbine when I was a kid, so I can't really compare the quality of the old models to these new ones. I've always admired the history of the Red Ryder BB gun and its significance in the air gun world (and its connection with A Christmas Story of course). This adult size Red Ryder is just pure fun. From the moment you open the nicely illustrated box to the satisfying cock of the lever and first trigger pull, you won't regret buying one of these. The adult size Red Ryder is slightly longer than the standard version and it has a thicker stock which makes the gun feel more substantial. Also, the cocking lever on this one is all-metal which is a nice touch. I am not sure if these features alone justify the higher price tag from the standard version, but they're nice additions. The overall fit/finish on the one I received is great and the wood is beautifully stained for a BB gun made in China. The gun shoots fairly accurately although the windage on mine is slightly off, but I can usually hit what I am aiming at just fine by using a bit of Kentucky windage. It's nowhere near as powerful as a pellet gun, but the Red Ryder will penetrate through a couple layers of cardboard within 10 meters, so it definitely has some punch. All in all, a great product that will provide hours of fun and plinking enjoyment, either indoors (which is what I do) or out in the backyard on a sunny afternoon.

Good memories
Love it. Brings back good memories. Gun is very accurate had my wife shooting pop cans at 30 ft. she was having a blast. My daughter is coming home with my new son in law and he wants to learn how to shoot. Start him out on the bb gun.

One of the coolest BB rifles. Ralphie would approve.🎄
I got my first BB rifle when i was 9 years old..1974! It belonged to a neighbor when he became to cool for BB guns. It wasn’t accurate, it was beat up and ugly but i Loved it. Not to long after that i got a Crossman air rifle,, a pump master 760z It was awesome..but i still loved my old Daisy and wanted one that was brand new. I had gotten into shooting forearms with my father and lost interest in my air rifles. Last year i bought the Christmas story, Christmas wish release 200 shot range model with a compass in the stock. Just the box art alone makes me feel like a kid again. Before i even opened it my buddy told me he bought the Adult Red ryder..said it was a bit bigger and that he loved it. I left the Christmas wish model in the box and ordered the adult Red ryder. It is awesome. Holds a lot of BBs and is so much don’t to shoot. No it is not a high end air rifle that shoot a million feet per second and could knock a fly off a guy wagon at 100yds, but it’s really special and works very well. I have at least 1000 BBs through it now and it still shoots like it did on the first shot..maybe even a little smoother to cock. But one, you won’t be sorry. Give one for Christmas too.🎄🎄🎄
