Artemisia Designs Renaissance Medieval Gown with Satin Panel Insert and Ribbon Accents

The bodice is so tight I can hardly breathe but the remainder of the dress is huge and the shoulders two inches too high. There were some spots of residue I had to scrape off the breast. It was extremely long. I had a professional alteration that cut five inches off the length, but the edge could only be surged; the skirt could not be turned and hemmed without showing. This costs an additional $22. The dress had many deep creases that only partially about half, steamed out. It says dry clean, but my cleaner would not. It is so thin it is see through. I did not have time to get another one before Mardi Gras; so I kept it. It costs way too much for what it is, $89. A price of $29 would be more fair.

Every year I put together an Appreciation Party for friends and clients along with their families and rent out the local movie theater. I'm dressed up as one of the characters in the movie as I greet my guests and present awards and gifts. This year the movie was The Hobbit and I needed a gown for the Elf Queen. When I ordered this dress I thought it would be "party store" quality. I was wrong! It was wonderful and had fine details and workmanship. The sleeves with their stun lining tht showed in the wind and the crushed velvet feel long with its weight was amazing. I actually ordered a grey velvet and satin hooded cape from the same company and was amazed at its workmanship also. As far as size, I am a size 12 women's so I ordered the XLarge (which says 14-16) it fit well with a little bit of room in the arms for movement.

I was a little weary when the package itself arrived. It was in a pillow-sized plastic envelope and was very light, considering that it held both this item and the cloak that matches it. A link to the cloak is at the bottom of this review.Unlike what the picture makes it appear to be, the dress itself is made of material worthy of being sold as a costume at Walmart and that can be bought for $30 or $40, not $114 plus shipping. The velvet material is bottom notch, and could probably be purchased for four to six dollars a yard at any store that sells fabric. Same thing with the red so-called satin.The design is beautiful, but the material is crappy for the price. If it was that $30 or $40 with free shipping, then it would be worth the money, and the seller would still be capable of making money off it. This dress will be worn soon at the "KNIGHTING" of my 90 year young Mother. She absolutely loves it. It does fit as described. Be SURE to order by the waist size. The top of the dress will be too big, but any smaller size and the waist will not fit. It is easier to take in the top than to attempt to let out the waist. Again, ORDER BY MEASURED WAIST SIZE, better an inch bigger than going an inch smaller than the actual measurement.

Totally in loooove with this dress <3 I wore it for a renaissance fair in Carver and is perfect!! I had to cut it a little bit because it was a little bit long for me (my height is 5'1). The velvet is smooth and the color very brilliant. I recommend it 100%

I was looking for a Renaissance Faire costume for this year that was cheap but beautiful. I did not want to spend $300 or more for a gown, and I was becoming frustrated when all of the gowns I liked would be expensive. I finally found this gem, it is beautifully constructed and worth the price (which is not that costly anyways).Pros:Does not break the bank.Durable.Beautiful construction.Great seller! They had my costume in BEFORE the expected date.Fit was great.Cons:A bit plain, have to add some things to it.Like most gowns, you need to purchase the petticoat or else you're gown will be slim, and not full like Renaissance gowns.PS- WHY IS THIS UNDER TOYS? It is not a toy!

For the price, it works & fits... For Halloween or Renaissance Festival a step up from typical costume. Lining on sleeves is nice, but no lining to dress (this can either be good or bad... Not extremely warm for outside, but no bull to silhouette either)

This gown is absolutely beautiful. Mine arrived 4 days standard shipping after I ordered, and that is incredibly fast, seeing as I am on the other side of the country of where the gown was shipped from. The gown is a bit thinner than I expected, but it still seems very durable. The gown fits perfectly: I ordered the 2X size, and although my bust is 3 inches smaller than what is the listed measurements for the bust of the gown, it still fit perfectly well and didnt feel or look to large in the bust. The sleeves form very well to the arm, for they are neither to tight nor to large, and the perfect length. The hem sweeps the ground, and I am 5'6 1/2. All in all, I highly recommend that you buy this gown or any of the products from Artemisia Designs.
