Covert Cabinets are made in America. They can hang on any wall in any room in your home or office. Items can be placed on the shelves and left there. Items on the shelf will not interfere with your access to firearms or other valuables. Locks, latches and hinges are hidden from view with no indication that they are present when the compartment is closed. The compartment drops down from under the shelf. The interior lock is magnetic that requires a magnetic key to access, which of course is included. The storage compartment does not simply drop open, spilling things when you activate the magnetic lock to open. The hinges operate smoothly using a "Stabilus" dampener gas spring. However, the hinges do operate quickly giving you immediate access to what is inside. The shelving blends into any décor so they are not the focal point that catches the eye. Subdued and yet allowing things to be hidden in plain sight, making them the ideal "secret" storage place that allows quick access to your firearms.

The Answer
To the question of where to conceal your firearms when space is limited.I looked at a couple of safes but I just don't have anywhere to properly conceal them, so I went with this bad boy.The mounting backboard of this unit is not wide enough to span across two studs, so I drilled three holes equally spaced in the back of the unit. I did not use the hardware that came with it and instead went with two toggle bolts and a 3/8 " lag bolt. I used the center hole for the lag bolt to mount into a stud, then used the toggle bolts to mount into the drywall on either side of it. The three of them combined provides enough strength to prevent an accidental bump or horseplay from dislodging the unit from the wall.Yes, someone could still break the cabinet away from the wall as this unit while well built is for concealment, not safe keeping. So if a thief knows what it is then you're screwed, but the same can be said of anything.I chose to mount my unit closer to floor as an end table and it blends in nicely with the decor of the room. It takes a little practice to get the hang of opening it but it's not complicated. A word of caution is to make sure there is no ridge on your magnet before attempting to open the cabinet. Mine came with the tiniest of of plastic burs on it and I unwittingly marred the surface of my cabinet trying to open it. :(I did not use the foam for the inside that was shipped with it. My plan is to line it with a thin rubber mat (like the kind you find in a toolbox) so I can fit three firearms in it (currently it stores a Ruger LCP and a Ruger P95). I keep ammo and extra mags in another location.I have not told a single soul what it is and I suppose I should put that info in my will in the event I meet an untimely demise, as to look at it one would never know the bottom portion drops down. All in all this cabinet works great, is a quality product and is priced right. I would definitely recommend it.Update; February 10, 2016:I purchased the revolver (see new pic), and all three fit perfectly! I ended up using the foam after all, it worked great.

Works well, looks good, does its job
I had to drill my own holes and purchase heavy duty wall anchors for the existing holes. Which makes sense to anyone who knows a bit about stud placement and how most wall anchors fail if they’re too small for this type of shelf.I give it 5 stars because I figured I would have to modify it and purchase heavy duty anchors. It looks great and I’ve been in and out of it dozens of times now without any issues. The hinges and magnetic closure work well.

I can hear the lock clicking but it appears the magnet isnt strong enough to full unlock it.

Wasn't long enough to space between wall studs. Used the wall drops and the shelf fell and broke into pieces, revealing my weapons to guests. It turned into firewood instead.

Overrated...
According to the instructions included, there are suppose to be pre-drilled holes so you can mount this shelf with two screws. My shelf unit didn't have these so-called holes. The way it is designed, you're suppose to flush mount the shelf and have full access to the compartment and that is impossible the way it is assembled. The bottom of the compartment hit against the wall and will not fully open. The fact that it costs as much as it does and now I have to do modifications to make it work is ridiculous...

Great
Bought if for my sons birthday. Unfortunately it wasn't what he needed, but my other son loves it. Easy to use for small items without going unnoticed . Easy to install and even has a light.
